A shame, I liked Aragami, I wish them all the best in all their future endeavours.

Via Steam:

We have some important news to share with you. It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Lince Works will effectively stop the development of new projects indefinitely, starting this April.

We have been lucky enough to work on what we love for the past nine years, pouring our hearts and souls into creating immersive and entertaining games for you to enjoy, and we are so proud of what we have accomplished.

But unfortunately, we have come to the end of our journey.

The last couple of years have been particularly difficult as we shifted towards the development of new IPs and a new course for the company. We were ambitious about what we wanted to achieve as a studio, but sadly, although we made good progress, the economic context was not favorable and we ran out of time.

It breaks our hearts to know that all the work we have done for the past year will ultimately not come to a completion.

We will always be grateful to our community and players around the world. Your loyalty and passion for our games have been our driving force, and we cannot thank you enough for the invaluable support you have shown us throughout these years.

We want to assure you that Aragami and Aragami 2 will remain available across all platforms and store fronts and the online co-op will be accessible.

We would also like to express our appreciation to our incredible team, who have worked so hard on bringing our games to life. It is with a heavy heart that we have to separate our ways, but we know that they will continue to bring their talent and passion to the industry in the future. We will do our best to help them find the best place to continue their career.

Although we may be closing our doors, the memories and experiences shared with the team and you, our fans, will remain forever.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for making it an unforgettable one.

Haven't gotten around to the second game, but Aragami, while flawed, is a gem in my book.
If you're into third person stealth games focused on melee kills, they might be for you. There's multiple powers that keep the gameplay varied enough I think.

I suppose the chances the Aragami: Nightfall DLC will ever gain the achievement support the catalogue page claims it has have just gone from extremely low to zero.
That's so sad!

Thanks for sharing. :(
It's understandable. Indie devs is pretty unstable endeavour but at least they made something great before they shut down.
Also I have hope that another devs may buy the IP and continue the series.

Well, according to the numbers that are available, they made a revenue of around 12 million over the last six years.

And "Aragami 2" sold a lot less copies than the first part.

Sure - in parts that is because of the shorter time it's available on the market, but even then...the higher base price for the second game and the fact that it's basically just "more of the same" might also play a role in this.

I'm pretty sure, their sales expectations haven't been met.

I also don't know how many people worked for them, and what the annual salary for programmers, level designers, musicians, etc., in Spain is...but broken down to money/head/month, that sum might simply not have been enough to sustain the company.

And in that case, it's for the best to close shop before you accumulate debts, and start working somewhere else, instead.

Cost of living in Spain (or Europe in general) might contribute to it.
Try compare that to Toge production. That group started way smaller and they only hitting it big now.
The reason they can survive that long because they're pretty much based on a third world country with lower living cost
Also them start becoming publisher helped as well. Lince Works failed to spread their wings and put all their eggs in one Aragami basket.
