I'm sorry to butt in, but would you be referring to the "no codes posted" rule? It seems to have caused some controversy.

That one was not too bad. But I'm seeing lots of games with only 33% or 50% off. Or maybe I already have most games that interest me and fall within my price range -- which is not entirely true, since I had to let some games slide past me during the summer promo. Perhaps I'm expecting too much from GOG. Or I'm, for some reason, simply losing interest?

Any post in the ninja giveaway (independent of what it was) = ban from the giveaway, i get the idea but i don't agree considering that the person didn't give or get any key. But like i said previously, it's his giveaway, his rules.

Depends, most of the games are somewhat recent and with high demand therefore the lack of high discounts on the prices.

On the other hand, publishers are less willing to lower their prices since there was (and still are) many factors that hurt their business, the russian trade market (that steam put a stop a while ago), the bundles and deep discounts that made gamers wait for discounts instead of buying day 1, etc.

In my case, i already have a huge backlog that i won't ever complete for lack of time, most of the games that i have i don't even have any interest so i realized that i should change my consumer habit, nowadays i only buy games day 1 that i really REALLY want and know that i'm going to play when it's realeased (ex. Shadowrun HK) or when i want to support the developer (ex. Brigador).
Otherwise i just wait for the inevitable 75% discount or bundle...

I see where your coming from, your talking about lack of originality on the boards? (ex. Whats your favorite animal thread). I can not speak too much about the subject if it's that because I'm still very new here and don't have a gauge on the culture here yet or what it was. But it makes sense if users are leaving and there's no constant stream of new users. What would you like to see happen? What measures would you take? Just curious.....

About Sachys- Yeah the rule is harsh and I have an idea on why he's doing it that way and that's to make the ninja and open this thread, disappear to the bottom. Only thing is I don't know how frequently those giveaways are, are they every month, 6 months or yearly? If they are yearly why not every 6 months or quarterly? I'm still monitoring those when they pop up. The only problem I see is the frequency of the giveaways that are making the other two threads still be on top.....

I'm talking about the lack of desire to write, in my example, the thread is about games you finished recently, and i mean, yeah you will go there and say what games you finished but c'mon, at least write one paragraph about what you think of it, not just drop by to say that you finished "x" game, that's meaningless. For once, actually fix the god damn forum instead of trying to bring new customers with clients and focusing on The Witcher 3 sales.

You can have a great topic do discuss but it ends up with 2 or 3 pages unless it has some controversy, for me this indicates that there isn't enough active members to discuss it.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have a small community where almost everyone is nice and you recognize some "faces" but when those people start to leave then you start to see the problem. I'm confused, what giveaways? Besides, the problem is, like i said, this is becoming a dump for bundle keys, that's why the most active threads are "Open this thread", "Ninja Giveaway 2.0", etc, you just pop in and say "I have x key, who wants it" and bam, you have the usual customers or new faces.

Dunno, it's just sad that some people just appear to grab some freebies and don't even bother to discuss anything.

Does suck though because what your saying does make sense I just wonder how GOG would fix it. I was talking about the frequency of the tbbbob giveaways....... Also note I see it as a pressure and control valve, maybe GOG staff could take a cue from that and make something official out of it.

Side note- everytime i make a reply it appears that it went through but it didnt so I would have to re-do the whole thing again. Am I the only one?

I'd say it's a mix of your reasons. Most people hate to put any effort into giveaways and most regulars have the STALKER games already (thanks to the very awesome release discount). What the heck is a "side participant"? oO

Someone that wants to play the metagame of the giveaway but doesn't want the prize.

Ah, makes sense. Maybe I'll participate the next time you're doing something like this (already have all three STALKERs :P).
