Crosmando: Grim Fandango runs perfectly fine on Residual VM. What's with all the idiots itt?
i concur. imo remakes are for suckers. the low quality or disappointment found in remakes sold on GOG proved that.
Well the way I look at it, either you take them or stop moaning. You cannot have everything in the world, games included. Grim Fandango is the best we're going to get. You don't get this long time fan complaining. I'm just happy to see it available to the world finally.

It wasn't low quality when I played through it. Looked and sounded better than the original.

If the alternative had been the "remakes" or no games at all then I prefer the remakes.
I'm pretty sure gog would have included the "originals" also if that would have been possible.

No need to be so negative I joined gog.com in May 2011 like you because of.

#1. Digital Rights Management (DRM) free

and

#2. Video games sold on gog.com being packaged with a lot of extra goodies as free bonuses and all that.

Those are the top 2 reasons why I joined gog.com.

Actually I joined GOG because they had an affordable copy of Duke Nukem 3D. I joined the community because at the time they spoke about things without complaining about Steam and their evil DRM every two posts. It is very rare for me to actually care at all about DRM. Unless it is something like Starforce or Tages, I generally do not care. I buy games to play them, not to feel good about some unusual moral principles.

I joined before the trend of being anti-drm took hold. Though I do prefer things were DRM free, it is not a big enough deal for me to buy all my games from GOG.

I'm not talking about that. Everyone in this thread seems to believe that the original GF (not the remake) can only run through Windows directly. GF has been compatible with Residual VM for ages now.

And they work or refund?

And GoG does the hard work of researching the games is good enough while other services push the burden on you.

All of the video games I have work, so i don't need a refund at all. Yet.

I didn't join the community, I was groomed into it by promises of free cheese...

Sorry, bit late to the party darthspudius, Steam is evil!

Seriously though, DRM, client whatever you want to call it, the only reason I buy here is that I can take my product away from the net and play it all by myself in my own secluded darkened room. I have no need for any social functionality, or helpful tools. So as long as they stick to browser downloadable, no connection/online component needed I am fine.

As for releasing the originals, well, it tricky. How much would they be able to charge for instance, I mean some will already have paid for the newer version, and some will be able to run through Residual. Is it worth them getting licensing for both, and setting it up, not sure. For Metro, sorry, really tried to like these games but just didn't. So IMO I would like them to keep releasing old and new games and fill in where it is possible.

and it does it well. I played the game a few times via this program, great stuff. Though I much preferred the new version for it's point and click interface. The game was so much smoother.
Principales? Let me check my dictionary...

Ah I see; wait, GOG is a school now, and a french one at that?!

Hrrrm now that I think about it, it makes sense. But I feel it's more of a nursery, whats with all the wailing babies otherwise?

Neither of those are reasons I joined. I joined because they had golden classics I couldn't find anywhere else. As someone with a solid internet line DRM has never really been an issue for me, and I never cared for goodies that weren't ingame (they'd be in the way to getting to the CD/DVD and then left in the box never to be seen again till tossed out)

Good point, the goodies tend to get downloaded and stuck in a Docs subfolder for me. So I back it all up and keep offline, but I can't say I have ever looked at any of the goodies.

Johnathanamz: ... Are there anymore video games like this missing originals? I don't have time to check all of my video games to make comparisons of them missing the originals.
If the remastered versions are comparable in quality with the originals I think I would be fine with them. If they are not a s good, well then I would prefer the originals. I like to think that GOG would not actively refuse an original, so it must be the publishers decision or technical difficulties and therefore nothing within GOG's reach and no breaking of a principle.

Regional prices - now that is a clear breach of principle.

Same thing with deep sales. Took them only a few months after saying how bad it was for everyone to start doing it themselves.
