2thick2know: Basically I buy a game I want on sale at Steam and then a few days later it comes out on Gog...

The only reason I don't buy it on Gog is because its not there.

Specifically (lately) "Supraland" and "PC Building simulator".

What do you do to stay up to date? do I wait a month before each release hoping it might pop up on Gog?

I want to support people who support no DRM.

Thanks.

**EDIT**: I just bought some games I own on steam on Gog just to support the platform, I am feeling pretty good with myself : )
I used to have this happen once in a while. But I have such a huge backlog that the only games i 'buy' on Steam now are the freebies that pop up now and again. I can wait for something interesting to pop up on GOG so I can add it to my backlog. I have so many unplayed games in the queue that I really don't need to buy anything from Steam.

Maxvorstadt: Can you please tell us what games you bought on STEAM, so we know in advance what comes out on GoG. Thanks.
Not sure if you are telling me or the people of Gog, but I wrote which games.

I can also add Vampyr to this list.
GOG is awful at telegraphing what games are coming. I pretty much now treat GOG as an "nice to have" service, more for archiving games that I particularly like than to play brand new things.

You could keep an eye on

Supraland was mentioned in May, about a month after release on Steam.
Haven't touched Steam in years, been working great for me.
I just don't buy on Steam unless it's a new AAA game not on GOG.
These days about the only thing I buy on Steam is Choice Of Games / Hosted Games, but there was a period a while back where GOG went on a bit of a role and for a couple of months they got a load of stuff I'd bought on Steam.

I've hardly touched Steam since, and it's for the most part paid off. There are definitely games I'm keen to get, but now I wait or grab them on disc for PS4 or Xbone.
<- The reason this has never happened to me...

But there have been a few cases where I have bought some old boxed copy just to have GOG release the same game here almost immediately, which is awesome as then I get to have the trinkets and don't need to worry about the condition of the physical installation media.

If it's just a few days ago, did you already play the game on Steam for more than two hours? If not, you could just get a refund and buy it here instead.
For me this is highly frustrating.
I do not know what needs fixing, but GoG fix it!

My friend pedro devs hinted as hard as they could that there was a GoG release, but couldn't confirm. Same with void bastards.

And many others.

The paperwork done, they've signed up, made the code galaxy ready, everything ready for release; BUT THEY CAN'T SAY A DAMN THING.

Devs needs to be able to say clearly, months before release that they're releasing on GoG.

Why ever this is happening, fix it.

It's hurts your users and developers.

And while you're at it, sort out your communications with debs. Too many are upset with being ghosted or rejected with little or no explanation.
Just for Bioshock infinite and Hitman Absolution.
But I got the base steam bioshock infinite for free.
And I paid hitman absolution with steam credits from cards.
So I only paid little money for Bioshock infinite dlc.
That's why I bought both on gog again..

Not sure I will ever do it again (hitman and bioshock are exceptions)
Maybe only for hitman 2016...
That's also why I'm waiting to buy skyrim and fallout 4 and doom 2016...I want to get the gog version.

In the end most game on steam that get a gog release stay on steam.
Usually I don't buy on steam anyway (I get free games and pay a little if I really want a game with a small basic drm or without drm).
Much like a lot of people have said, I don't buy anything from Steam. I tried it a few years back, and felt like I was permantly renting games as opposed to owning them. I recently set up a new account, but I'm not going to give Steam any money. If a game on my wishlist happens to be free, I will take it, but to be honest, if a game isn't out DRM free on GOG, Humble or Itch.io I'm probably not going to be playing it.

StingingVelvet: It's especially annoying when something comes a VERY short time later, with no warning, like Void Bastards. Nothing we can really do about it though. Luckily most indies come here day one, and new big publisher stuff is rare to begin with, so it's relatively rare.
Fact is Steam is a lot bigger in terms of customers then GOG, and Companies will give priority to Steam over GOG, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Let's face if, if you will not buy a game with DRM there are of games you will not be playing except in pirated versions.

Some of us are more flexible and will buy on steam THEN crack it or pirate it.
