its regionally locked in germany, so you can't buy it. maybe someone in the trading thread can help you. or just try to get a steam key from a shop, its generally the better version compared to gog

It's not banned in Germany. HOWEVER, it's on the German government's naughty list of media harmful to minors.Squeenix, however, went full retard and not only regionlocked the game on Steam, but blocks redeeming keys for the uncut version for German IPs as well, which basically constitutes a de facto ban.

Thankfully, you can still redeem the gog version from a German IP. OP just needs to get a non-German user to buy it for him (or get a gog key from a key reseller).

As for what caused the game to get blacklisted in Germany: Roughly a dozen finishing moves got removed from the non-blacklisted German release, including shredding enemies faces in a ventilator, impaling them on a swordfish and stuffing them into ovens (gee, I wonder why they got upset about that... ;-P )

Because of what happened in World War II.

If there hadn't been WWII, you could happily buy and play Sleeping Dogs without any issues whatsoever.

Let's hope WWIII never takes place, who knows what games will be banned after that in some countries. I don't want to even think about it, it makes me all sad.

Because of the violence. There exists a censored version of vanilla Sleeping Dogs, which is available in Germany via steam. There is none for the Definitive Edition though, which is why the GOG version is not available here.

It would only be true if a country check on your payment method isn't in place.
Not to mention, that when you log into your GOG account, GOG know immediately what country you are from ... unless you used a VPN when signing up.

Be nice to get around this prevention, especially with a store like US Amazon, as they have many ebooks I'd like to get, and I have researched this issue quite deeply.

By all means though, I am very open to a non illegal solution.

With GOG, it works if you clear the cookies before visiting the store with a VPN and pay with wallet funds.

This is silly since one can legally visit another country and purchase it there. You're telling me if I was in Germany and physically went to France, I'd still be restricted from buying German indexed items?

Well, it worked for me, and every single time I needed to resort to it, at that.

1. Clear your cookies, and reconnect your router to be assigned a fresh IP address
2. Fire up your VPN of choice (there are open source ones free of charge) and connect to a VPN server that's somewhere else than in your actual location and for which the region lock doesn't apply
3. Log in on GOG and purchase the game in question, preferably with wallet funds
4. Log out again and disconnect from the VPN server, close the VPN software
5. Clear your cookies, and reconnect your router to be assigned a fresh IP address again
6. Optional but highly recommended: Change all the passwords you used while you had been connected to the VPN server

Regarding buying ebooks from Australia, if you're using an iPad the iBooks Store sells 99% of the ebooks which you can buy on the US Amazon site. Also, for the 1% not on the iBooks Store in Australia, you can create a US Apple ID and buy them on the US iBooks Store.

There are 2 keys being given away at https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_community_giveaway_gog_edition_redux/

maybe if u act fast, u could ask there....

be sure to read the rules tho, it is the 1st post in page 1, the 2nd post ALWAYS list the games being given away for the month....

also, idk if it is locked for germany as other people have said, u can tell that youre from germay when youre requesting, maybe finkleroy or other members will know what to do
