Leroux: I challenge everyone to post some local stuff from the city or a (non-US) country they live in (or know of)!
Yes, please! ATCQ, the Beasties and Cypress Hill are cool, but I heard them a thousand times. Show me some stuff I never heard before. Introduce me to rap music from Israel, Brazil, Algeria or Korea. That's what I'd expect from a Hip Hop Thread on a forum like this.

Let me show you some recent underground shit straight outta Germany:

X-Men Klan & Roey Marquis II. - Einige der Wenigen

Snowgoons feat. Pay - Geld Regiert

Hiob feat. Pierre Sonality - Aberwitz

Tufu - Hässlon

JAW & Peter Maffya - Nobody

BBou - Kanona

And here's something from my hometown:

Kaveli - Herzblut

I wouldn't, to tell the truth, because for some reason hip hop doesn't seem very popular among retro gamer geeks, so chances are slim that something so specific could work ... But I thought it was worth a try, because I'd have loved the thread to take this direction, too. ;)

Thanks for the links!
Ever heard of Lowkey? This dude's music gives me goose bumps. Just listen to the lyrics.

Lowkey feat. Lupe Fiasco, M1 & Black the Ripper - Obama Nation part 2

Lowkey feat. Logic - Relatives

Lowkey feat. Immortal Technique - Voices of the Voiceless

Lowkey - Hand on your gun

Lowkey - Terrorist?

Another interesting UK based rapper is Akala. He's the brother of Ms. Dynamite.

Akala - Find no Enemy

I love UK rap! Especially from the last decade. Blak Twang, Ty, Roots Manuva, Mark B & Blade, Herbaliser, ... That's my cup of tea. Any further recommendations? Any UK underground artists I might have overlooked?
Hm, not many from the last decade that I can think of right now, apart from the ones you named and grime artists. How about Foreign Beggars? Or Task Force - although that song is more than a decade old already and more reminiscent of UK's 90's hip hop.

Good ol' 90's classics. :)
Silver Bullet - 20 Second to Comply
Gunshot - World War 3
Son of Noise - Funk Meets Son of Noise
Krispy 3 - Destroy All The Stereotypes (love them!)

Thanks for the reply. Of course I know Foreign Beggars and Task Force. ;)

I'm also familiar with Gunshot, but I was never a big fan of Britcore. The other ones you listed are new to me and I like the songs, though it's not exactly what I was looking for.

Here are some more:

Phi Life Cypher - The Shining

Rodney P - The nice up

The Streets - Blinded By The Lights (not your typical UK rap, but Mike Skinner is nothing less than plain brillant)

Skinnyman - No Big Ting

And something more recent I discovered lately:

The Four Owls - Not Like Before
Yeah, like I said, I'm unlikely to help you find what you're looking for. A pity though because I really like Krispy 3, the Lyrical Saviours of the early 90's. ;)

I'm not really a big Rap fan besides 80s and early 90s stuff but here are some more modern songs/artists I really dig:

MC Frontalot
It's Pitch Dark
First World Problem
Final Boss

Professor Elemental
Fighting Trousers
Cup of Brown Joy
Splendid!

Adam WarRock & kHill
Mal
Firefly
Leaf on the Wind
Substance Abuse feat. Tash of Tha Liks "Don't Get Us Wrong"

I wish all European hip hop albums were as easy to come by here as the French and English ones. Would be a great incentive to improve language skills. ;)

Personally I'd love to get my hands on these:

Hvid Sjokolade - Mon ik' ...! (Denmark 2004, En Hilsen)
13 Bastardi - Persi nella giungla (Italy 2003, Persi nella giungla)
Sangue Mostro - L'urdimu tip! (Italy 2008, E ccos' nost')
