hi :)

I got the Witcher 3 yesterday! After a lot of trouble I finally managed to download 3.9 of the 7.5 gigs. However, I paused the game and when I got back it said "in less than an hour" and I think my download failed. Now each time I try run the game, it says "installing" on galaxy which I assume is the patch or update. But there is a "server problem". I then try to verify game files so that I can download the rest but it yet again it says "server problem"

If I play the game through the .exe file, I am stuck on version 1.02

please help thanks!

P.S I installed my game in a different directory

Oh my friend GOG Galaxy. You can download the patch with your browser:
Account - Library - Witcher 3 - left side of the "pop-up" (2 files, 1 exe-file and 1 bin-file) - download all and install the patch later by double clicking the exe-file.
Or you can use the GOG Downloader (https://www.gog.com/downloader) to download the patch. Download links can be found behind the more button on your library.
In both cases you should be able to patch the game and play it with Galaxy or without it.

My recommendation as always, download all the files form the web page via browser or GOG Downloader, plus any patches there are. Now install directly from those files.

my internet is very slow and usually it will fail if I download through my browser. Also, it will only allow me to download the latest patch, which means i have not download the other 7.5 gigs :'(

Also..what will happen with the 3.9 gigs that I have already downloaded ...

Then you should use the GOG Downloader. You can pause and restart the download of the patch with it.
I guess the 3.9 GB are for the trash if you aren't able to get Galaxy to download the rest.

Edit: Do you have a friend with a high speed internet connection? If yes: Download the patch there and use a flash drive to copy it on your PC.

okay :'(

But what I am asking is, " the downloader will only download the newest patches (part 1 & 2). Don't I need that 7.5 gigs that galaxy tried to download?

Also i downloaded the downloader before and when it was running nothing happened? All i could do was choose where my downloads should go but there were none?

Aren't the 7,5 GB Galaxy tries to download the newest patch? You can use the patch to update to latest version of Witcher 3 (1.02) with it.
If the problem is the size difference: Galaxy downloads the patch unpacked (bigger download). Your Browser and the GOG Downloader download the patch as packed file (smaller download).

I dont think so. On galaxy the newest patch (manually) is only 2.5 gigs. However I know there is a 7.5 gig download. Also when the gog.com download is running, nothing happens

Yes, you need to download all of the Witcher 3 to play the game. So you will need to download or re-download the Witcher 3 install files.
Galaxy downloads the game wholesale onto your machine, so you do not get the installer files. It is still in BETA and so it can be a little flaky.
I and many others will suggest that if you want trouble free downloading for the moment follow this link and download the downloader.

Happy gaming, it is a great game. :)

Seems like the glitch where Galaxy tries to download all the extras (about 7,5 GB) of Witcher 3. Disable autoupdate as workaround.

If you download the patch manually you have to install it manually. Double click the exe-file.

Guys the gog.com downloader isnt working. Or atleast I dont know how to update a game though there? It is running but there is no way to add a game. I also tried to manually update witcher 3 through galaxy and it has the same problem

So, you already downloaded and installed the base game and can run it, and you are trying to DL the latest patch?

If that's the case, then it is possible your 7.5GB download in galaxy and the 2.5 GB patch are the same. Galaxy tends to download the whole fricking game every time a small patch is out (I've already seen 9.6GB downloads for a 350kB patch...)

You can run it with Galaxy, or alone. Only difference will be that you won't have achievements if you don't use Galaxy.

yes you got it! I installed the whole game through the disks! It was on version 1.02. So, can I forget the old patches and only download the latest patch?

P.S after installing the patches through the downloader, will galaxy fix itself? (i dont think so)

The GOG Downloader isn't updating your game. It just downloads the patch you have to install later manually by double clicking the exe-file. As the name says it is just a downloader not a patcher. So download the patch (using the Downloader or your browser) and install it.
You can play the game with or without Galaxy (before and after patching the game). If you want to start the game without Galaxy double click the exe-file of Witcher 3 in the install folder of Witcher 3.

You only have 3 options:

1. Play the game on version 1.02.
2. Download the install files from GOG and play it with version 1.06.
3. Download and install the latest patch. You aren't able to download older patches.
