SCPM: Nostalgia is a powerful drug: How GoG.com is growing beyond a back catalog

Interesting news like GOG is going to be opening an office in Los Angeles, and there's a nice look at their IRL game shelf with some gems not yet on GOG.
Actually, all of the games you see in that shelf shot already ARE on GOG unless I missed one :)

edit: except for Nomad, which I just noticed in that picture...

Licurg: You also missed Archimedean Dinasty :P
It was 2blurry4me :P

tfishell: I assume Ubisoft was like, "No! Bad GOG! No more classics for you!" and shooed you away with a rolled-up newspaper. After all, as the new head of marketing, I'm sure you know all that goes on within.

WC4 is next to WC2; what's the game in the top-left corner? Reader Rabbit?

Also, you know what would liven up that shelf?
I am not the head of marketing or any other department :) Just lil ole me :)

tfishell: Oh, they didn't tell you?
Yeah no, I cannot into Marketing simply because that requires a higher level of education than I currently possess :P

Grargar: You cannot what? Sneak into it? That would be a piece of cake for a Thievin' Bastard like you. :P
I was using the form of written English used in Polandball comics and referring to how Poland cannot into space :P

andysheets1975: As I think Take-Two is the least interesting of those options, I'm guessing it will be them (I hope I'm mistaken) ;)

Erich_Zann: Who owns the SSI catalog ?
Probably Ubisoft :)
avatar
JudasIscariot: Probably Ubisoft :)
avatar
Erich_Zann: Not the best answer for you, as if it's the case, the subsequent question happens to be "where the fuck are the Phantasie series, Wizard's Crown, Steel Empire, Dark Legions, Veil Of Darkness ?".
I get that Dungeons & Dragons might be a tricky licensing swamp, but what about the rest of the hoard ?
Ask Ubisoft is all I can really say :)

Erich_Zann: Just saying : I would be buying these from GOG, am probably not the only one, and I know where to find them on the high seas anyway.
If GOG doesn't need the cash, that's fine by me. More whiskey in the cupboard, more books on the shelf.
We know that but we can't just snap our fingers and have these games here :) We haven't given up on getting as many classic games as possible but it takes time :)

Erich_Zann: Actually, a cursory glance here tells me there are actually quite a few Take Two games I'd be interested in : only from the first page I count Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, Bureau 13, Hell, Ripper, Dark Colony and Lula.
avatar
Leroux: Interested in, okay. But would you be jumping up and down out of joy and happiness if they came to GOG? ;)
I know I would be :)

JudasIscariot: I know I would be :)

Leroux: Which one specifically? Lula? ;)
Personally speaking it would have to be Callahan's Crosstime Saloon as I never got to play it back in the day :)

SCPM: Here's a recent Russian-language video regarding GOG's 1st anniversary of Russian GOG. The video is quite curious as it feature a lot of footage from the likes of WarCraft 2, the original SimCity, Neverhood, and Cities: Skylines:

Yeah they show some of the games that "Fargus" localized on the Russian market. It's not just a video about us but also shows a bit of history of "Fargus" since we added quite a few of their Russian translations to some of our games :)

Correct :)
