PMIK: Oh excellent! I missed that part. Might be helpful to make that a little clearer, or to have the option to automatically download a backup as well as install
For now I've chosen to use the Galaxy client only as a downloader, ie. I download those installer files from the extras, and install them manually. Like in the Good Old Days (GOD).
If I for some reason want to use some Galaxy functionality later for those manual GOG game installations, I guess they can be imported to Galaxy, by using the Import-feature.
Ps. I don't quite understand why there are separate "installers" for the Galaxy versions of games? I thought earlier that the Galaxy versions of games would be directly downloaded without any actual installation (other than if it needs some registry entries and installation of dependencies) similarly how e.g. Steam does it, but now it appears that even the Galaxy version of a game first downloads some kind of installation files, installs them, and then removes the installation files?
In that case, why couldn't the two installer file sets (Galaxy, and the "Backup", installers) be one and the same? If the Galaxy-version of the game needs some additional Galaxy dll files or whatever, couldn't they be downloaded separately by Galaxy on top of the vanilla installation? After all, if the "backup" installations can be imported into Galaxy game installations, I presume that should be possible already now.
Oh well, I'm fine with the way it currently goes, but it just seems GOG is doing the same work twice for all games (two separate installer file sets for all games)? Or? Maybe this is already explained in that Galaxy beta thread somewhere...
