== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Fallen_Zen: This really should not happen and we're sorry for the poor experience you've had. Probably there's a problem with certificate of the game's bundle after update through Galaxy, that's why the system thinks the game is damaged. Could you tell with which games have you had the above mentioned problem? Please provide titles and version numbers of the offline installers you were using. We'll investigate.
Okay, here is the list:

Cannon Fodder: cannon_fodder_1.0.0.6.dmg

Incredipede: incredipede_1.3.0.8.dmg

Pid: pid_1.2.0.7.dmg

Waking Mars: waking_mars_1.0.0.1.dmg

Pirates Gold: pirates!_gold_plus_1.0.0.6.dmg - for some reason in this case, the original Pirates game this installs throws the error but the newer fancier version of the game it installs starts up outside of Galaxy without error

Blake Stone Aliens of Gold: blake_stone_aliens_of_gold_1.0.0.1.dmg

Blake Stone Planetstrike: blake_stone_planet_strike_1.0.0.1.dmg

Rogue Trooper: rogue_trooper_1.0.0.6.dmg

Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945: sniper_elite_berlin_1945_1.0.0.5.dmg

Icewind Dale 2: icewind_dale_2_1.0.0.4.dmg - in this case both the game and the installed Icewind Dale 2 Configuration utility do not start outside of Galaxy

Temple of Elemental Evil: temple_of_the_elemental_evil_1.0.0.3.dmg

Populous: populous_1.1.0.8.dmg

Syndicate Plus: syndicate_plus_1.1.0.8.dmg

Freespace: freespace_1.0.0.12.dmg

Wing Commander: wing_commander_12_1.0.0.8.dmg (and yet Wing Commander 2 installed via the same installer works)

Crusader No Remorse: crusader_no_remorse_1.0.0.2.dmg

So seventeen apps in total after being imported into Galaxy will no longer start outside of it, each one causing the operating system to throw the same error about the game being damaged and offering to trash it.

In Galaxy 1.1.2 the above all start without errors with these exceptions:

Rogue Trooper's icon appears on the Dock but the game does not open. Choosing "Show All Windows" from its right click menu just shows a blank desktop. Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945 does this also and so does Icewind Dale 2 plus its Configuration app. None of these will start period after having been imported into Galaxy.

I tried using the verify/repair option in Galaxy for Rogue Trooper which ran and I don't think it found any problem. It did not download anything. It also did not fix anything. The game just starts with its icon in the Dock and that's it. So, I am downloading and reinstalling via Galaxy both Rogue Trooper and Sniper Elite and will try them again first in Galaxy and then outside of it after they are installed. I used Galaxy to remove both of these. I have Icewind Dale 2 queued presently for a Verify/Repair once the other two are installed. If that does not help, I will have Galaxy remove it and I will download and install that from scratch also. This is roughly 10 gigs of stuff I am messing with here - again. If these efforts do not work, I will install them outside of Galaxy with my own saved installers and not import them so I can play them the way I am starting to think that perhaps God intended - without a client.

Well, not surprisingly I should not ever presume to know what God intends.

Sniper Elite and Rogue Trooper work fine now after being removed and reinstalled from scratch with Galaxy 1.1.2 and they can also be started without Galaxy without errors now.

Verify/Repair did not find any problem nor fix it for Icewind Dale 2. I removed it also and reinstalled it via Galaxy. After doing so though Galaxy had no idea I had installed it. It does not appear in the list of installed games in Galaxy and if I look it up on my library page, it tells me it is "Ready to install." But it is installed and Galaxy installed it and it runs just fine outside of Galaxy. The reinstall did not put the game into a folder with the config utility like the stand alone installer had before. That utility has its uses and should be available. I know how to go into Wineskin and run it and then reset Wineskin to run the game but not all Mac users will know this or that it even exists. The Galaxy install should make that available to the user also but it does not. Maybe that is by design which I would not agree with but whatever.

So, I backed up the game to an external drive and imported the newly installed game into Galaxy to see what would happen. It imported it properly, did not redownload it and it now appears where it should in Galaxy, starts in Galaxy and after this it will still start outside of Galaxy.

So, importing games on a Mac currently leaves a lot to be desired from what I've seen. Hopefully that is not terribly difficult to fix for other user's benefit. I'm fine here. It all runs in Galaxy and good enough. If I want it to run outside of Galaxy for some reason, I will delete the game in Galaxy and reinstall it from scratch in Galaxy and from what I've just seen, it might need an import again but it should work as expected after that and the import will work properly so it isn't a painful process. It appears that will fix the issue after imports that don't go well. At least there is a work around until it gets fixed.

Dicetrain: I updated to the latest version 1.1.2 and it doesn't work at all anymore. The title bar is normal, but the whole window is nothing but white, and it constantly makes my CPU do... something at about 25% capacity and my cursor is constantly blinking between normal and busy cursor even while the window is not in view. I'm on the latest Windows 10 update with the latest drivers on everything and administrator authority. I have tried running it as admin, restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling it, adding the folder and individual applications to exceptions list in Windows Defender and even turning off Windows Defender. It still does it. I also tried just waiting it out to see if it had to work through something, but even hours later it was still doing it.
Its been like 5-6 patches now that i was getting the white window on Galaxy and any solution i could find here on the foras or even on google didnt help me solve it.

Now with the latest update (1.1.2 ) im getting the exact same issues like you. Mouse cursor constantly blinking with the loading icon ect.

Im running under Win8.1 and the only workaround to load Galaxy without problems is running it with Winxp SP3 compatibility.

Give it a try.

ast486: After the update, I noticed my galaxy games list had TINY icons and bigger name text, equivalent to steam's detailed view.
It was also sorting by last played, instead of by name.
I really dislike that view and got pissed off thinking that was permanent, before I found the area to change it again.
You can change it back if you prefer so using the icon in the top left corner.

Still waiting for a proper (meaning CORRECT) sort order for my library as well in Galaxy as in the user profile. But since it has been MONTHS for GOG to implement such SIMPLE thing and they still did not manage to do so (the database field is called SORT ORDER - it's not that hard to do) I don't believe in it anymore. Instead I am getting an update error when starting Galaxy and now I have to download the new version again. I am very, very disappointed with GOG at the moment. They try to add, add, add everything you really don't need and they destroy so much that has always worked. Chat is crashing my browser, sort order is off, manual sort order is not existant anymore - but hey, I've got achievements :(
When using Galaxy will I be able to deactive every kind of overlay functionality, especially things like achievement popups? Pretty much anything that distracts from the game itself has to have an off switch!

Ah yes, that worked. Hopefully they figure out how to make it work with Win 10 natively.
Hi, i have a question. Will there be a quick "Backup everything" button for the entire library?

The actual method for it is a little bit clunky, having to do several clicks just to back up one game, and even more clicks for all the sweet sweet extras.

With time the library gets a bit huge, and downloading and updating everything once there have been some changes is a little bit on the rough part, if i don't pay attention on what has been updated and what not, it's quite a headache.

Apart from that, im very happy with the client, it made my life much easier, and had no problems at all with it. Keep the good job! ^^

7PCGamer: When I click on install in Galaxy will it install the game or download the installer. I would be using a different PC for playing, not connected to the internet.

One more question: will the installer also install GOG Galaxy / downloader on the target computer? If yes let me know the command line parameter for skipping the same

unfortunately disabling/enabling features is not available in current version, but we know that's important and it will be eventually delivered (no ETA yet)

Glad to help. Thank you for all the hard work it takes to provide the client to Mac OS X too.

With fresh installations of my games some of which I have been playing lately, everything is working fine and as expected. I haven't noticed any issues. Also, as part of what I was doing earlier, I wound up downloading quite a number of games concurrently and it handled queuing all of those up, downloading them rapidly and installing them without any problems. So that was good too, just a little bit of a stress test if you will. I also found removal of games to work fine as in my case noted above I needed to do that quite a number of times. Lastly, I observed that Galaxy was smarter than me in that it would gray-out and not allow me to try and remove something while it was running. haha! That was good too. It's easy to forget you have a small windowed Boxer (DOSBox) game running behind a bunch of open windows which was how I managed that. So, nice bit of defensive programming there to protect dumb users like myself from screwing things up. :D
Here is an announcement for a new wishlist item - adding support behind the scenes for the How Long To Beat web page, that aggregates play times for games played on all platforms to give an idea of actual play times.

This is probably not going to be the most important thing to add to Galaxy, however it is something supported by the other major players so possibly should be looked into at some stage,

Yup, I found the area to update it, as I said.
Thanks for the feedback anyway. :-)

I do like using galaxy; very convenient.
Hi everyone,

if anyone is still on an old version of Galaxy (like 1.0.7 or older), a blue notification will be visible at the bottom of the Store page. Hopefully everyone has updated by now :) If you are still running 1.0.7, and restarting Galaxy doesn't cause it to update, then you can grab the newest version on gog.com/galaxy.

We'd appreciate if you could please post an issue on mantis.gog.com before reinstalling, with logs attached - it would help us solve future problems with the self-update mechanism :)
