Hey so I wanted to ask if it would be possible for a friend of mine to gift me a game if he has never redeemed anything on his acc befor?
Unfortunately, I believe you have to have at least one game (freebies/demos don't count) but I don't know exactly if you need to have spent a certain amount or not. I'll see if I can find out and get back to you.

EDIT: Yep, you have to have games worth at least $10 on your own account before you can gift to others. Here's the support article if you want to take a deeper look.

No, you need to have spent $10 / €9.19 on your own account "at least 3 months ago".

Ah yes, I overlooked that part.

at least 3 months ago - that's before the past 3 months

Hmm to be honest, the support article could be a bit clearer in that regard.

If you're speaking from experience, I'll take your word for it.

The wording of the article in English isn't clear. It seems the translators didn't agree either. As far as I can tell, the Polish version says ... in the last 3 months while the German one says ... and then wait 3 months.

Yeah, the article about refunds has a similar issue. You need to either have first-hand experience with refunds, or see other people post about it. Then you know they don't actually provide an estimated time frame for responding, and the "30 days for the refund to be processed" just refers to the money making its way through the banking system.

I didn't spend $10 in GOG store in the last 3 months and I can purchase gifts.

The wording "at least 3 months ago" is clear to me. I am however baffled by Polish version of the text which, indeed, says "within the last 3 months".
My understanding, is that you have to have spent at least $10 at GOG, but not necessarily in the last 3 months., you just have to have been a member for at least that long.

Thanks a lot for clearing up the misunderstanding!

Assuming he never paid any money, there are times when they have free games and you claim a game you already got you get a gift code (Though it seems some expire but don't say when they do in your order list...) So if he had one that hasn't expired he certainly could give you said code.

But overlapping game codes i've seen is rather rare.

Primarily to battle stolen credit cards and buying gift games to sell elsewhere before said funds are revoked. I'm not sure if 3 month membership or 3 months after making $10 worth of purchases in order to see if there's flags to said payment methods as they would happen within that time probably.

But either way it's not 'you have to purchase within 3 months to be able to gift'. That would be annoying, especially if a good sale came up and you had games you already owned but couldn't buy gift codes because you hadn't purchased anything recently.

Regardless MJSTXplorer, do you know what games he would be gifting you? It's possible others have expiring codes or are willing to trade said games they already have.
