carnival73: I want it now that I'm pretty sure my PC will run it. Only thing is, didn't get called in for work this week so next week I'm not going to have a paycheck and my partner is going to be footing everything.

And seeing as I purchased six games this week, my partner would rake me over the coals if I even suggested lending for it. XD

I don't mind buying from D2D I just usually don't because either everything is region restricted or it's twice the price of competitors.

Foxhack: I'm more of a Steam guy myself. I do own some games at other stores like D2D, GamersGate, and GetGamesGo - I just prefer downloading the games right from the Steam client.

Lol. Yeah, she's the bread winner so I can't be like the wife that takes her husband's credit card to mall all the time. XD

I think most of my stuff is Steam too because I trust them to keep things up to date and stay on top of games. But man o man, if Valve ever takes a dive I'm going to be friggin' pissed. I hope they allow us to download our entire library DRM free.

It is rather tempting to get Borderlands for that price, but D2D is pretty damn terrible. Direct downloads have failed for me before, and Comrade is almost as terrible as Green Man Gaming's client.

I tried Comrade but it just plain sucked... however, their Download Manager worked just fine for me.

You must activate the game on Steam to play. I also bought the game from Ubistore and activated the game on Steam before.

Wow man, this thread hasn't moved at all until now.

Even at that pricepoint, it would be cheaper for me to get a physical copy of Civ V in a game store. Same reason why I did not get Civ V in the Christmas sale.

Seriously, it costs the equivalent of 30 dollars in the game shop.

Digi sellers need to keep in mind that when someone chooses them over old-fashioned hard copy, that person is sacrificing a tangeable backup which is potentially collectible, offers resale value and REFUNDABLE.

Considering this Digi sellers shouldn't be attempting to compete so close to retail price.

Let alone charging more than a retailer.

Once upon a time, they probably would have charged less. But then B&M retailers bitched and cried and threatened to no longer stock games if DD was going to sell them cheaper. So publishers, gave in. The stores then stopped selling most games anyhow and the publishers content with the profits they made from the higher DD prices, decided to make prices even higher. And the publishers all lived happily ever after.

Not in the case of Civ5 due to Steamworks, unfortunately.

Not exclusive to video games either, I love how every music album I buy is usually cheaper on CD than as a download on amazon.com. Same thing with movies and TV shows, from what I have seen.
