LordKuruku: For those who already bought Humble Indie Bundle 2, and missed out on the first, go check out your order page again and claim your complementary copies of the games from the original bundle. These, too, can also be redeemed on Steam.

Late adopters can still buy in for the original bundle at about $7 at the moment.
THANKYOU
Steam Sale
AvP $5

Anyone heard of Clones before today?
I've played Bully before, but I found it rather Juvenile (heh) - actually, I dislike games with a 'save point' system. Seems to me the games take longer than they need to.
How about Just Cause 2 - how's that one?

Ooh look, the DLC is on sale as well:

Dragobr: Prey $2.49 at GamersGate.

Should I buy it? Since Steam ran out of keys for it, there might not be many chances to get it from DD services.

Does anyone knows if it works fine on Windows 7 x64?
If you like science fiction, you will like Prey. A solid FPS game. Get it.

It works fine on Win7 x64. Here is info on running it widescreen. Also when running OpenGL games in Windows 7, use these compatibility options on the game executable prey.exe. You can also register your key on steam if you like.
If you're curious about the game, here is the intro to help give you an idea what it's like.

Whoa, thanks guys.

Now I will just wait for the last days of sales, because the Shadowgrounds pack might go on a daily sale on Steam, and I want to do a 4-combo on GG with it.

Are Gothic 1 - 3 any good? I am feeling very tempted to buy them for 11 dollars on steam.

If you can adjust to the game's odd combat system, then yes.

They are good to pretty good, if patched, but the major question is if you could play a game which has (IMHO) aged so bad over the years. Mostly graphically.

If you enjoy open world rpgs a la The Elder scrolls then yes.

Gothic came out around Morrowind and to me, I though Gothic was the better game. The npc's and things were just better designed with their AI And such.

The controls to Gothic (I espeically) take time to get used to, but if you can adapt it's a great open world rpg.
Auditorium $4.99 or Fractal $4.99 or better yet, a bundle of the two for $7.99 at the devs site.

I love them but I really recommend just skipping to Risen (same dev), which has most of the same elements but is modernized. They are really rough nowadays.

I really don't recommend the Gothic series despite all the praise they get for being "good RPG's under the surface".

2 wouldn't even run correctly on my Windows 7 machine. And Gothic 3 has to be fan patched to a staggering degree to make the game even playable. That isn't a "Fan Patch enhances the game!" aspect. You must fan patch Gothic 3 to get a working game. And it must be the absolute latest fan patch. Anything earlier will still have game crippling bugs. I have no idea how anyone could have played more then five minutes of the standard game.

Even then, it didn't run super great on my machine. It wasn't a performance issue like video card lag. It was like the engine itself couldn't cope with the game.

And then after all that effort you put into the game, you then have to learn how to play the game itself. Which isn't simple. It's not an RPG where you can pick up and run with.

So you're looking at a multiple hour investment to download, then fan patch (the fan patch is about a gig in size to give an idea of the scope), then installation, then you have to invest enough time being slaughtered by wild boars to figure out how to actually play the game.

I keep thinking of trying to go back to it every so often. But from my experiences, as a practical investment of a few dollars? Do not recommend. There's more practical uses of your time then a game that you actually have to work on to make run like it should.

If you are looking for a cheap modern RPG, get Two Worlds or for bit older, Arx Fatalis.
