aprochno: Trying to buy a few games for my MAC laptop but when I go to check out it says the game is not compatible. What can I do here? I have downloaded Microsoft apps like word and excel onto the computer before.
You have 2 choices:

Don't buy the games if they do not already have a Mac version available.

Learn which ones work in the Mac version of Wine :)

May I ask which games you are looking to buy that are not compatible?

aprochno: I am new to the site so I am still figuring out how it works. I am looking to get the first and second Heroes of Might & Magic
Hmm lemme look that up in WIne HQ :)

edit: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2402

If you know your way around the Mac version of Wine then you should be able to get the game to run fine but caveat emptor and such :)

phaolo: You shouldn't look for games, if you want to work on a MAC.

Actually, Macs have it easy :P

I mean look at this: http://paulthetall.com/heroes-might-magic-ii-mac/

I can only dream of having something like this on my Linux install :)

ZFR: HoMM2 comes with a DOSBox version, and HoMM1 is only DOSBox. Shouldn't that make it pretty easy to run them on MAC? There is an OSX version of DOSBox if I'm not mistaken.
It also has the Windows version as a bonus item :)
