zeroxxx: Are you bloody idiot or trolling? Pick one.

Galaxy is required because it contains modules/API/functionalities necessary so clients don't have to manually assign traffic/port forward this and that.

So you want direct IP Connect? Good luck. Bunch of people won't be able to play because they can't even set up simple NAT.

Try Hamachi and use LAN play. That's the same as Direct IP connect.

Hating on DRM is one simple thing, mindlessly complaining is a completely retarded thing altogether.
But, but, but... Hamachi is a third-party service and requires an account. Also, only us elite haxxors who can configure a home router are allowed to play multiplayer vidya gams.

mqstout: How will we play games that use Galaxy Multiplayer in a future without GOG.com, or in a remote site without Internet connections?
It has been mentioned multiple times, from nearly as long as GoG exists; GoG DRM-free "guarantee" is only for single player parts of games, they never/didn't make this guarantee for multiplayer, it's up to the devs whenever or not they take time to implement direct IP / LAN features.

Heck you have older GoG games (as in long before Galaxy was ever even mentioned) that requires either an online account or even an online activation before you are able to play them online/multiplayer.
