Which people that bought Day 1 will most likely have bought at full price as well, or now feel cheated because patient people got the whole package at a fraction of the price.

Pre-ordering is no different. Granted, one caveat is that pre-ordering is from a time when physical copies were finite. Today the practice carried over into the digital realm where it’s pretty unnecessary.
