Matewis: I ate a mouthful of ants one morning, does that count? I had this big glass jar full of sweet rusks that I had just finished the night before, and being the lazy bastard that I am, I simply placed the empty jar next to my desk on the floor before going to bed. Empty, that is, except for the handful of crumbs that was left on the bottom of the jar. The next morning I booted up my laptop, and as I was reclining in my chair I lazily reached for the jar of crumbs and ate a mouthful. Immediately I realized that it didn't taste right. Instead of crunchy and sweet, it was crunchy and sweet mixed with a really weird and overpoweringly bitter aftertaste. Upon closer inspection of the remaining crumbs in the glass jar it was clear why: it was positively crawling with little black ants :P

Matewis: No doubt, but after that little episode I think it might depend strongly on the type of ant. I don't think those little buggers have any redeeming gastronomic qualities.
