This is one of these 'I saw this game but can't remember its name' posts. It looked really fun and if it ever showed up on GOG I would buy it!

I'm going to describe it as best I can, in the hope that someone remembers the name:

It is a very early Windows horror game, set in a haunted house and played in the first person. The graphics are really basic and the menu has that really basic 'Windows 95' look. Older gamers will know what I'm talking about here; grey panels and buttons with non-descript black text.

There are option buttons always on the HUD, a bit like the old Lucas Arts games, and in the centre of the screen is a first person view showing where you are in the mansion.

I remember a big defining feature of the game is that there are a LOT of ways to die. Nearly every room has a different death and if I remember right there is a big, scary skull face whenever you do die.

Thats about all I can remember, not holding out much hope but if anyone thinks they know it, please do let me know! :-)

Thanks!

Don't forget to take a moment to mark hohiro's post as the solution, then. It's the right thing to do.

Sure, sorry I've hardly used these forums!
Btw, this was a great adventure at its time, loved it much and died alot. In fact the death screen of your description brought it into my mind. There was Deja Vu (1 and 2) with the same engine, but a bit more like criminal theme (at least what i recall).
