Hi there,

I'm at Quest 4 where I have to find Information about the thieves guild and stop them. After finding the entrance and killing all of them and finding some secret passages, killed the recruiter and two leaders I don't know what I still have to do that Khelben will end the quest.

I also freed some goblins and found two bathtubs where traces of a woman's perfume where found. But I don't know if there is more to that.

Any help what's left to do is appreciated!

Thanks in advance

I didn't even know Descent to Undermountain was released. I thought it was made into Legend of Grimrock or am I confusing it with a different game?
Descent to Undermountain was released a few years after Menzoberranzan. It didn't receive good reviews. Bought it, over 20 years ago, and still haven't played it. :)

If GOG ever releases it, I might finally get around to trying it.

My apologies, I just looked it up, I was confusing it with Escape from Dragon Mountain.
I'm sorry I derped pretty badly there.

It works pretty well with DOS Box ;) Well that didn't help so far :/ ;)
Well, it wouldn't be rare that the quest itself is bugged as hell as other parts of the game were.

Something should need to be done with this dungeon crawler because the physics are terrible, the ladders are a nightmare, the combat system uncomfortable and the optimization at least under dosbox didn't help much for the fun.

Basically the game used the descent engine to develop a game didn't fitted at all, unnecessary complex development due to the engine gave us a dated game, buggy game, uncomfortable controls. I decided to abandon it because it was a chore. And pretty ugly.

Something should need to be done with this game becasue if a GOG version were launched I know I'd have the mood to give it a try again. :) Call it masochism or a second chance.
With DOS Box Staging it runs pretty smooth on my Notebook. The combat is okay, it's not worse than the early Elder Scrolls games. You can manage to get unstuck from ladders when you swing your weapon - that helped me pretty often ;)

Yeah, I might have run into a bug, but I think I just missed a hidden lever or a secret wall (which is in my opinion the major problem with this game). I watched a video on YouTube and I need to pass a secret wall in the bathing room to get in the Guildmaster chambers - but I can't find the switch to open it.

I wouldn't call it masochism if you give it another chance. It's kind of an early Arx Fatalis mixed with Arena. The soundtrack is superb and I use it for tabletop sessions. Also the UI and all of the render graphics look so much like Fallout 1 (released in the same year), so I guys the same artist(s) where working on this game.

EDIT: Solved - to end the quest, I needed to find a secret passable wall in the room where you fight the second thieves guild leader (it's where you find the Ring of Protection +1). Passing through the secret wall, you get to the room that is needed to end the quest. It took me about 3 hours to find it :-|
