I used to play this game 1 or 2 years ago and after my recent adventures with NWN series i feel like going back. Do any of you still play the game and enjoy it still? Are there any important changes in the last year? Would you rather recommend an other online game? (ofcourse other than WOW please. )

If you are asking why I opened this topic here rather than in DDO forums, well, I got used to GOG forums. It is cozy here.

Tnx.

Hmm, can't say i have or probably ever will. I'm tempted by the Pathfinder Online though...
I'd love to play these MMOs without other people.
I once played its Turbine counterpart: LOTRO. I felt compelled to leave the game after pay2win became normalized; buying character stats with points from real-world currency? No thank you.

I've always been curious about DDO though, and I do not know much about it. I guess I am still angry about the changes that were made to LOTRO, even though those changes probably saved the game from going offline.
It seems my old characters are still there and also the guild I was in still active. Tho I created a new character. It is really fun and the guests were good enough for me to get my attention.

Quest system is a little different than other MMORPGs. You talk to someone who gives you a quest. Then you enter a door close to him/her and an adventure begins. Basically steps are same in all of them. There are also general dangerous areas where you follow some quest line but the logic is the same. You earn the experience as soon as you finish the adventure or even while adventuring from some bonus objectives. When you return to the quest giver, you have chance to select a reward.

There are no fetch quests. Well there are some collectors but these are not really quests.

There is no PVP.

EDIT: You can earn Free TP points (game currency for shop) based on your favor points ONCE on each server.

favor.........TP reward
5................50
25...............25
50...............25
500..............50
1000.............100
2000..............100
3000..............100
TOTAL: 450

There are 8 servers. That means just by creating 1 character and doing first quest on each server you an earn 400 TP. And on paper it is possible to earn 3600 free Turbine Points. I remember there were other ways of earning free TP but that should be enough for starters.

Not me for sure.
Actually you can continue earning the turbine points with new characters on the server, or reincarnating your character when you hit level cap, which is cool because whenever you do the restart you get a small bonus depending what class you were and that can add up as you play more. I highly recommend http://ddowiki.com/ for looking up info on classes, races, and any and all game information.
Hardly playing on the PC at all these days, let alone MMO's, but DDO was one I played for a little bit and generally liked.
