Breja: I don't. I've no interest in games that rely on being super-duper difficult as a main selling point.
I absolutely know how you feel about the games but to be honest the Souls series is not nearly as sadistic as people make it out to be. I've played quite a lot of Demon's Souls and some Dark Souls and as long as I actually believed that the games are specifically designed to make me suffer I hated them. Later on it occurred to me that the games really just follow old-school design (it IS a successor to King's Field, a series of first person dungeon crawlers for the PSOne and PS2) and that none of the punishment is that bad. Incidentally I had played a few classic dungeon crawlers at roughly the same time as I played Dremons' Souls and the latter felt almost like a casual spiritual successor to those. Heck, older console games with rare save spots (or ones where you can't save at all!) can easily waste more of your time than Souls, badly balanced or technically flawed games can be infinitely more frustrating.
Truth be told, if it weren't for the radical design philosophy of constant gratification and hand-holding prevalent in most games developed since the start of the last console generation, the Souls series wouldn't have its rep, it just stands out among the competition. Combine that with social media and a generation of players and even reviewers who have never used DOS and don't even know what an Amiga is and there's your "game forged in the depths of hell". Sure, there's some trial and error involved and obscure mechanics but it adds atmosphere and depth.
Anyway, I really love the style of the Souls games and have more fun enjoying its beautifully crafted worlds than anything any other games throw at me these days. Sure, there's some frustrating moments but it's worth it to suffer through those and there are ways to play the games comparably safely and you can quite easily switch to easier methods (like ranged combat and magic) at pretty much any point as far as I can tell. And getting past the harder moments is pretty satisfying.
