This may sound strange, but I had a dream last night about one of the most genius crossover ideas for a game, and I don't know what to do with the information! It has to do with a Nintendo franchise and a third party franchise. I know for a fact that this game is not something that anyone would ever come up with naturally, but it would be an absolutely amazing game to play! I hate having to tease you guys with the idea, but I really don't know what to do next. I doubt Nintendo would listen to some random stranger, but do you think I should contact someone at the company? What do you think I should I do with this information?

Check this out:

Seems they don't accept unsolicited suggestions.

Thanks for the information! I might try contacting the third party developer to see if they're interested.

Let us know how it works out. If your game idea gets published, maybe we'll even get it here on GOG! It would be cool to see a GOGer become famous.
That was silly (mentioning it not thinking it). Now Nintendo will have to put out a takedown notice on your head!

Now that you mention it, there have been a few Japanese guys in black suits following me around. =P

They are called lawyers, trained on the planet Vogsphere, and they will move in and destroy you, as soon as you reveal your idea.

Copywright will eventually evolve Earth into this planet......

Well, it's not as if there never before was a precedent for this kind of thing:
http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/mario_plus_rabbids_kingdom_battle

But of course - it would require Nintendo and the third party in question to have a good relation (as Nintendo and Ubisoft have, which is why Nintendo allowed Ubi to use their characters), AND it would require both, Nintendo and the third party, to agree with you, that your idea is indeed awesome and would make them lots of money...

Let's not mention that - as long as you have no contract with anyone - you have no real leverage should someone decide that - yes!, your idea is good - but why should they pay you for something, you have no rights on?

And neither Nintendo, nor any third party will buy "the pig in the poke".

So you'll have to put an enormous trust in your negotiating partners, that they won't pull you over the barrel, after you revealed your great idea to them.

True. It kind of sucks when something like this happens. I am virtually powerless.

Please swear a solemn oath that if in a few years' time nothing comes out of this, you will come back to the forum and reveal what the idea was. ;)
There are people working in Hollywood, for instance, that will pay people for movie ideas. IIRC it is a nice finder's fee, about $10k (depending on the idea).

I would get a stenographer, or a notary, and record your idea. That way, if/when someone tries to shaft you, you have an independent third party who can verify it was your idea. (Of course, you have to find a lawyer who you can trust with your idea ….)

Bon chance!
Start developing it as a fangame, wait for the Cease & Desist, and then it'll turn out that Nintendo was working on an identical idea all along.

Sure, you won't get any money or official recognition this way, but then there was zero chance of that ever happening anyway.

Hahahahaha, amazing how that happens, but, of course, it was just a coincidence.
