I think this thread about the Galaxy-bloated installers and how to avoid them deserves a place in the stickies too:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/guide_how_to_keep_your_pc_free_of_the_galaxy_client/page1

Of course, if you use Adalia's Fundamentals, you can set that script to avoid the bloated installers automatically.
Shameless self-promotion perhaps, but I wrote a Co8 and Temple+ installation guide for ToEE with the intention of it being default-useful to new players.

Is it sticky quality?

https://www.gog.com/forum/temple_of_elemental_evil/temple_of_elemental_evil_toee_mod_installation_guide_co8_portraits_temple
Could someone get rid of some of these stickies?

Thanks.

Please consider adding the "Promote a wishlist with less than 300 votes for it' thread:

Hi Judas,
do you still update your OP? There haven't been any changes for a looong time, but I really think (as stated previously) that Adalia's Fundamentals should be in that list. They go very well with Barefoot's Essentials.

Also very useful (especially for the Linux crowd) and surely also worth of a sticky sticker, the gogrepo python script. It allows regularly backing up your games while giving you full control over what to download and what not:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogrepopy_python_script_for_regularly_backing_up_your_purchased_gog_collection_for_full_offline_e/page1

Please add these two to the OP!

Linux crowd, especially, also has LGOGDownloader which is more feature rich.
May I just say, thank you for adding forum links to the store pages!
It is so much better now!

(Sorry, I didn't know where else to put this.)

For the love of god, please either update the OP, or create a new version (time for 5.0!) and unsticky this one. The OP hasn't been updated in almost four and a half years -- a couple of the threads linked to are now mostly abandoned or irrelevant, and there are many more recent topics that beg for inclusion (including some that are currently stickied in their own right, despite being of very...limited interest to most general forumgoers).

JudasIscariot: You're welcome :) I was going to give this thread a version name a la Ubuntu and call it "Barefoot MaGOG" but I didn't want it to seem like I was favoring one aspect of the community over another :)

Soooo that can be the unofficial version name of the thread :D
There is a problem affecting (most or possibly all) Windows 7 users where a lengthy list of games will no longer start, because those games in question are trying to get updates from Games Explorer and Microsoft is now shutting down Games Explorer related servers.

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_explorer_gameuxdll_and_rundll32_issues_with_offline_gaming/page1

For me the broken game is Darkstone. Other affected games include UT 2004, Sudden Strike, Blitzkrieg, Roboblitz, No One Lives Forever 2, Far Cry, and many others.

This batch file appears to fix the problem by disabling the relevant GameUX.dll files:

http://ubeogesh-things.blogspot.com/2012/08/resolve-it-finally-game-explorer-aka.html

I have noticed that it also unfortunately prevents the original version of BioShock from launching if it is applied ("Failed to create the GameExplorer object"), and there may be other games that are also similarly affected. But the process is reversible by simply running the batch file again.

So, I think that first GOG thread should be pinned, for Windows 7 users that have problems with games not launching without an error message.

this compendium is really great. Way easier to find topics with it.

Totally outdated and should have been locked and unstickied several years ago but if you also scim through the thread for links added by others, it serves some limited function.
Where's the site issues thread? The BIT.TRIP BEAT library images are borked

Where do I post to figure out how to get my warcraft2 download to play? Just keep getting message that configuration is not correct but it is and I have no idea about how to fix?
