Feel what’s it like to be an outcast from a vampiric sect and welcome to the Lasombra clan, where failure is not an option. Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York is coming soon DRM-free on GOG.COM. The game is a visual novel set in the dark universe of Vampire: The Masquerade. It acts as a stand-alone expansion and a companion piece to the previous title, Coteries of New York.
A text game?

No, visual novel. Imagine a book where you can choose which page to go to, or a game where you only have to click one in a while.

Looks like they are going to milk the maskerade IP until the main game releases.
Failure is not an option, so no actual gameplay then.

Yes yes, I have played one of these, a free (and decent) one, to see what it was like. Text choices with background pictures. It works but does not feel much like a game to me. They obviously can be good in their genre.

Hmm i would have bought it if it was an actual game and not an VN but it seems it's not and just an expansion to Coterie, ok then.
I quite like these VN' games, and it's great to see more content for this. Main problems I had was the story was way too short and not enough replay ability vs the price.
a must have for me...

VNs and replayability rarely go well together.
Nice, and I'll surely buy it, but are there any plans to extend Coteries of New York with more branches, or that's not going to happen?

I certainly wasn't expecting this.

I can imagine that Coteries sent well enough to justifying making some more of that.
The ip molestaion is pretty burtal. Not as bad as Game's Workshop, but you're getting what you asked for.
All of this is just advertising for VTMB 2. I enjoy VNs as long as they are my kind of variety, halfway decently written and coupled in with great art. I'm more excited about the VTMB 2 main game though, after seeing that spanking new trailer.
Nice artwork, shame about the lack of gameplay.
