I can't install my Witcher 3 DVD copy because one of the discs has a smudge/scratch. It gives a code 10 file reading error. Is it possible for me to copy the files of the other 5 discs into my hard drive and I can download the missing disc 3 files from the internet through GOG Galaxy? Thanks in advance.

Did the W3 physical did not came with a gog key for the digital version of the game?

Other than that I had an error with one of the Witcher 1 disks back then; I mailed it to them with a short description and got a shiny new one back a few days later.

Yes my physical copy has a GOG game code that's why I was hoping GOG could help me with the files from the problematic disk. To whom did you mail your physical copy?

Redeem that code here.

https://www.gog.com/redeem

You won't need any disc after that.

I think his point is that he would rather not have to download the whole thing if he can help it, since he has most of the data already on the physical discs.

Yes I want to avoid downloading the entire game through the internet because it takes too long :(

I was hoping to still make use of the good discs.

You could actually copy the files from your discs (even disc 3) to your hard drive and try installing from there. At least, that's what GOG recommends:

RETAIL (PHYSICAL DISC) COPIES:This kind of error happens when your disc drive cannot read the file on the disc. To fix this, please:
a) copy all the installer files from all the discs onto your hard drive, and install from there, or
b) use the code printed on the back of your booklet, to redeem the game on GOG.com, here: www.gog.com/redeem/

One person has already given you the answer and it went ignored: send the disk back for a replacement copy.

First, please be advised - there were lots of updates between original retail and current final version of the game - size of these updates might be well over half the size of the game and you may want to download digital version from scratch because it will be far more hassle-free than updating it by hand.*
(unless it's GOTY)

That said, if you still want to progress with retail version:
Copy all .BIN and .EXE files for all discs you can. Then contact Support with 1) type of retail (which languages it contains) 2) which files couldn't be copied over.
No promises at this point, but we will try to provide you with links to redownload corrupted parts only.

That's some strange advice; if the drive could read all the installer files from all the discs there wouldn't be a problem in the first place. What were they thinking?

my physical copy is GOTY. i have 900GB drive space. and i bought the physical copy because our download speed is slow :(

i copied all the discs and i could see that the missing file is "setup-5.bin". Is it the GOG Support that i should contact? or CDProjekt's? thanks

GOG Support. We are the ones providing files after all ;)
Hopefully it will be easy to solve.
