I saw The 6th Sense and thought it was one of the worst movies I had ever seen and could not understand why it was SO talked about and all the hype and hoolalala that went with it. It was so bad I almost puked. I was then extremely wary of Signs but LOVE Mel Gibson and have huge respect for Joaquin Phoenix and so decided, with no expectations or anything to give it a try, and think it is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Those aliens would have never even looked at coming to earth because it is such a moisture-rich world/atmosphere/environment all around. That they were even able to survive at all is ludicrous, if they were that sensitive to water on their skin, the moisture in the air would have been lethal. I love Mel Gibson, so I tried Unbreakable, it is his least atrocious work. The only other thing I saw of his was The Village and it was exceptionally atrocious as well, right on par with Signs and The Sixth Sense.

I liked 6th sense, since I have an interest in psychology and mental health. Signs was atrocious. How "fortunate" that this little girl just happens to want to keep hundreds of glasses of water all over the house, because EVERY parent would be perfectly fine with that and allow it. /s

The Happening is perhaps THE worst movie I have ever seen, certainly the worst I can remember. It's about plants trying to wipe out humanity. Not plants that move around or do anything, just normal plants. So we have people looking fearfully out their window and seeing... grass. And omigod, over there?! A tree. Oh noez, it rustled in the wind!!!111

I buy cheap second hand films from a store called CEX here in the UK (major second hand retailer) and along with a few friends we go through and look for the dvds that are 0.20p or similar and clearly crazy low budget never heard of films.

You have not come close to seeing a bad film :P

I actually didnt mind the Happening, not a great film but not terrible. Although I would have thought with an interest in psychology you could see exactly why an invisible force capable of making you kill yourself with no chance of stopping it would be terrifying even if they are plants (once people know, which is not for a while) - as much as any real physical threat in any other film would be.

I have seen some bizarre pieces of crap, however I don't really remember them, so I don't really count them. If I had a list of every movie I've ever seen, I'm sure I could point out some real doozies, but I don't remember them. The Happening is the worst of what I remember. If it had been presented in any kind of credible manner, perhaps. But this was about plants "deciding" that humanity was a threat, so they release (was it a gas?) that they what... cooked up in their secret plant lab somewhere? Rubbing their roots together gleefully, chortling as they twirl their mustachioed tendrils.... "Mwahahaha, humans will die!" There was simply too much stupid to try to redeem the script. It's like floating on a piece of driftwood and saying you're going to fix the ship.

Yes, I could imagine a more interesting plot interpretation, but then I wouldn't need the movie, would I?

but I what I keep coming back to the series is the message of hope that it gives out, that we finally got our shite together, quit fighting amongst ourselves, took care of our environment and social problems. Also, it always portrayed the main characters as the 'good guys' with good intentions. With the wreck of our society now its a good fantasy to enjoy. I really like the new movies and the story they tell, its good action fun.

Also, most importantly. Picard is shexy.
