theslitherydeee: I'm not sure. The only time I've used origin was when I played Dead Space 3.

zeroxxx: Pretty good game. People were complaining non stop, though, but I can't see it being so mediocre. I liked and finished the game.
The action was good but I found that it lacked the same tense atmosphere of the first two. Also the story gimmick where you are constantly trying to meet up with your friends only to be separated by circumstances almost immediately got old quickly.
I've been torn about this game. I hate playing games of a series not in the order that they were created. But, Amnesia: The Dark Descent is the only game of that group of games (Penumbras and Amnesia: Pigs thing) that interests me in the slighest. The others have a surface appeal and then I look at them/about them and get turned off every time, whereas TDD looks like it might be okay but I still have not played it because of it being part of a series. I guess I can just pick it up free now and if I ever decide I am okay to play it out of order, I'll have it (assuming the rental from steam is still valid.)

SOMA on the other hand looks way more appealing than any of their other games.

If I'm not mistaken, Amnesia is a separate series from Penumbra. Since A Machine for Pigs came out afterwards, you wouldn't be playing anything out of order if you just played The Dark Descent.

Ohyeah? I thought there was a connection for some reason (other than style/developers/publishers or whatever), even if they aren't part of the same "series", I thought they had related elements of some degree. Maybe it was more the fact that since Penumbra didn't appeal I thought the slight appeal of Amnesia wasn't warranted and I got steered away from it because of them.
thanks for the heads-up!!

Austrobogulator: Wait, what else is free?

trentonlf: C&C Red alert 2 is free right now on Origin
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I must resist...
Thanks for the info, i always wanted to try it out. +1
Not interested, even for free on DRMed platform.
If they bring it here then I will buy.
I don't do survival horror, much less on Steam. Pass.

Now play it, it seems quite a good game (the little I have played it :)).

I usually don't try to gather several digital copies of the same game (as long as one of them is an up-to-date DRM-free version), but it so happens I have at least four digital copies of this game:

1. Originally bought it from Frictional Games' homepage directly.
2. At some point got it also on GOG, probably part of some bundle.
3. Also have the Humble Bundle version.
4. Steam-version from the aforementioned Humble Bundle.

GOG version is the one I've installed and played though.
