20th Anniversary Edition

I must be stupid or something (it's a likely possibility), as for the life of me, I can't figure out how to use Gabriel's journal.

I'm on day 5 now, and I've been staring at nothing but blank pages since I started the game. Am I missing something here or might it be a bug?

Or do I need to write the journal myself by using an actual pen on my laptop display? ;-)
