Just curious if anyone has completed the GoG version? I'm stuck and seem to be out of options on proceeding :(

I'm in the tomb and have already placed the 10 plaques correctly. My save is in room 3 and when I activate with the snake rod, I die in room 5 every time. No matter what path I take in the room, I die. The "wait shield" pops up on screen and I can no longer control Grabriel and the zombie comes to me every single time. I've tried leaving the room and coming back, I've tried kiting around the room, I've tried running straight through, etc. I have been several feet away from the zombie and just get the wait shield and death no matter how far away from him I am. On a few of the attempts it took the zombie about 12 seconds to get to me after the wait shield came on screen (its like my death is scripted for that room). I finally tried going the other direction and about 3 rooms down, I died immediately after entering. Have checked over a dozen walkthroughs and no one seems to mention much trouble with the one blocking the door.

So... I'm wondering if the version could be the issue. Can anyone confirm beating the GoG version? if so, any tips for room 5 where the single zombie is blocking the door to room 6?

Thanks for your time.

I've completed the GOG version so it definitely works.

I'm pretty sure that you have to go UPWARDS after you activate the door. Dodge the mummies in your way (if they get too close, Gabriel freezes and they kill you) till you get to a room where you cannot go further because mummies come from all directions. Then you have to grab (use) the vines overhead and... well, you'll see! :)
Thanks for the GoG confirmation. My problem is, the game freezes me even if the zombie isn't near me. (in the room where the zombie starts right in front of the door). Doesn't seem to matter how close he is. I'll keep re-trying and hopefully get lucky with it.

Don't know about the GOG version, but I spent most of my time finishing the game the first time on that stupid level...
Finally got past this part. I can't really post the answer because it just seems like good ole poor game design. After trying several different strategies... what eventually worked was just running strait through (got it on about the 30th try or so). Luckily, this is the only part of the game I have had this problem on.
Sorry for being late.

The game works flawlessly so there shouldn't be a problem. If you play with DOSBox make sure you set your cycles to not more than 10000.

After using the rod (make sure it's in room 3) you have to move clockwise through the rooms.
But I guess so far you did that correctly.

In room 5 you have to do two clicks. One on the right wall's lower center and then on the doorway. I remember it actually makes sense and you don't have to have lightning reflexes.

I appreciate the help, but unfortunately what worked for me was retrying something that I had already tried before (unsuccessfully on multiple attempts). I wouldn't call it flawless... but it is workable if you have the patience to keep retrying.
