I still have my old Descent Freespace The Great War discs 1 & 2 but I can't get it to work so as to play it on my HP Laptop that runs on Windos Vista....
I've searched around and can't find any patch to get this to work without buying it through GOG....which I wouldn't mind doing (this site has great prices) but if I could just download a patch to play my old discs that would be great.....

Do you also own freespace 2 as well? If so you probably want to use the mod linked from this thread and import freespace 1 missions into the freespace 2 open source mod.

If you don't own freespace 2 then perhaps buying that from gog so you can run the freespace 2 open mod, it seems by far the best way to get these old games to run on modern systems, you can also opt in for graphical enchancements if you wish to.
