Is this known? I'm playing Curse, and when I use the Gold Box Companion (GBC) to "Level Up" the character wearing the Girdle of the Dwarves (aka Girdle of Dwarvenkind apparently), has a permanent hit point increaase.

UPDATE: I also tested using a training hall (no GBC) and the HP's are too high with that also. Here's THREE scenarios to explain:

For reference, this Paladin was created in Curse (not imported or hacked) and has maxed stats (Constitution = 18)

Scenario 1 (no Girdle):
1) Start with Paladin Level 6, HP = 84
2) Click the GBC "Level Up"
3) 14 HP added
4) End with Paladin Level 7, HP = 98
5) Analysis: character went from 84 to 98, just like he was supposed to. This scenario is for comparison with the other two below...

Scenario 2 (w/ Girdle using GBC):
1) Start with Paladin Level 6, HP = 84
2) Equip Girdle
3) HP = 94
4) Click the GBC "Level Up"
5) 15 HP added
6) Paladin Level 7, HP = 109 (but wait)
7) Unequip Girdle
8) HP = 107 (that's not a typo)
9) Equip Girdle
10) HP = 114 (that's not a typo)
11) Unequip Girdle
12) End with Paladin Level 7, HP = 107 (no Girdle), HP = 114 (w/ Girdle)
13) Analysis, character went from 84 to 107 permanent hit points. I believe 23 HP is way too much for a character to gain from level 6 to level 7 with Con 19

Scenario 3 (w/ Girdle using Training Hall):
1) Start with Paladin Level 6, HP = 84
2) Equip Girdle
3) HP = 94
4) Train at training hall
5) 14 HP added (good roll)
6) Paladin Level 7, HP = 108
7) Unequip Girdle
8) HP = 101 (not a typo)
9) Equip Girdle
10) HP = 108
11) End with Paladin Level7, HP = 101 (no Girdle), HP = 108 (w/ Girdle)
12) Analysis: character went from 84 to 101 permanent hit points. This is only 17 HP instead of 23 but this still seems too high, correct?

So, the Girdle, in both level-up scenarios will mess up your permanent hit points, agreed? Granted, the GBC does something even stranger by adding a few more to the already messed up hit points, but this Girdle seems buggy. I've read too, where it DECREASES hit points on characters brought in from Pool, but I didn't see anywhere that it increases improperly.

Yeah, something is definitely off.

You would expect +6 or +7 HP increase when the girdle is equipped depending on whether the paladin was level 6 or 7 (retroactive HP increase of +1HP/level due to Con 18 increasing to Con 19), and then the HP removed in the same fashion when the girdle is removed (depending on the level when removed).

What is odd is the immediate +10HP when the girdle is first equipped (instead of the expected +6 in the scenarios above)! If you unequip the girdle at level 6 before training is the +10HP lost again?

Expected Scenario (w/ Girdle using Training Hall):
1) Start with Paladin Level 6, HP = 84
2) Equip Girdle
3) HP = 90
4) Train at training hall
5) 14 HP added (roll of 9HP, +5HP for Con 19)
6) Paladin Level 7, HP = 104
7) Unequip Girdle
8) HP = 97
9) Equip Girdle
10) HP = 104
11) End with Paladin Level7, HP = 97 (no Girdle), HP = 104 (w/ Girdle)
12) Analysis: character went from 84 to 97 permanent hit points. This is 13 HP, as expected (roll of 9HP, +4 for Con 18).

UPDATE: I originally posted a reply to your queston and thought I had saved over this particular save-slot. However, I realized that I still have it, so I was able to answer your question!

If I unequip the girdle at level 6, he has 88 HP! So, he starts at 84, equips the girdle and goes to 94 and unquip brings him back to 88. At that point, equip and unequip goes back and forth between 88 and 94, so it would appear, 88 is his base HP before I even begin the level up process.

For the record, I have a backup of the 'CURSE' folder to ensure I can do any more experiments, if needed. It's just a matter of time before I save over this slot (it's slot E, which is easily written over when you mistakenly think you're 'E'xiting)

Just leveled again and here's what happened using GBC

Scenario (w/ Girdle using GBC):
1) Start with Paladin Level 7, HP = 107
2) Equip Girdle
3) HP = 114 (unequp again = 107, equip again = 114)
4) Click the GBC "Level Up"
5) 15 HP added
6) Paladin Level 8, HP = 129
7) Unequip Girdle
8) HP = 126
9) Equip Girdle
10) HP = 134
11) Unequip Girdle
12) HP = 126
13) End with Paladin Level 8, HP = 126 (no Girdle), HP = 134 (w/ Girdle)
14) Analysis, character went from 107 to 126 permanent hit points
Interesting. This time when removing the girdle (after levelling-up with GBC) the character lost 3HP (instead of the expected 8HP) and not 2HP like what happened the previous level.

After you "Level Up" with GBC it seems to be messing up the calculation of how many HP should be removed when the girdle is removed. After the girdle is removed once, then all the calculations are back to being correct. When the girdle is removed after you "Level Up" with GBC, it is subtracting 5 fewer HP than it should be doing. 5th level is the level the paladin was created at, so it might have something to do with that (that is, it is only subtracting 1HP for each level you've gained since you started the game at level 5, not 1HP for each level of the character, as it is supposed to).

I still have no idea where the extra +4HP might have came from when originally equipping the girdle at level 6 though...
