Does anyone else find the Fear games to be immensely calming?

For some reason, the horror aspects have no impact on me, but the action flows so well that I enter a peaceful zen state I call "flow".

Just Monolith doing their magic. They are just miles ahead when it comes to making incredible, compelling and well-rounded FPS expiriences.Kinda sad that the NOLF games arent here. That would send your Zen state trough the ceiling xD. Cheers and enjoy this masterpiece.
I actually do, yeah. The office spaces feels really relaxing for some reason. I think it's because everyone is dead and tucked away...

I agree. The game is a bit creepy but the action isn't all that vicious so you never tense up expecting the next jump scare or loud ambush. Doom 3 is the exact opposite, it is a chore to push forward into the darkness when you know a wall panel will disappear any moment and you get hit in the back trying to get your bearings. In F.E.A.R, the enemies are mostly stumbled upon and you end up getting the drop on them rather than the other way around.

Combined with super smooth first person action you have this game that just flows. Run into the room, bicycle kick the first soldier in the back, then run straight through the other four in slow motion with a fast firing SMG. Room clear. Next.

Never underestimate how much a super effective arsenal can make for a pleasant shooter. Not every game needs to be a heart attack inducing gauntlet.
Not only calming, but arousing, as well. That girl Alma, mmmmm... Especially in 2, in which "she covets you like free pizza at an anime event" (snakefist spoiling you on your hot date) and that sexy ending... Mmmmm... That girl is the girl of my dreams! Very beautiful and romantic (game), like going through the "Scare Ride" of a Luna Park! Fear helped me relax, calm and beat twos when watching that cute little girl. Smexy game.
