As a hardcore Far Cry 2 fan I feel as though I must publicly ponder this: Why didn't the Fortunes DLC for Far Cry 2 feature the Protecta shotgun, the Mag 7 shotgun, and the elephant gun as DLC guns instead of the crossbow, the sawed-off shotgun, and the silenced Mossberg? Those former three shotguns would've been a PERFECT stylistic fit for an FPS set in Africa like Far Cry 2, considering that they're all of african origin.

A real missed opportunity. Overall, the generic guns featured in the Fortunes DLC being such generic choices (all three of them) as well as the balancing problems created by the inclusion of the utility truck is what has led me to dislike the Fortunes' DLC overall, since it makes Far Cry 2 easier without adding anything that's aesthetically impactful. I like the ATV but that's about it. Yeah, the silenced Mossberg is useful, but I would've much preferred an african shotgun like the Protecta, a Mag 7, or an elephant gun. Like I said, a real missed opportunity. I'm honestly very surprised that the artistic virtuosos at Ubisoft Montreal didn't think to include a more inspired lineup of guns for the Fortunes's DLC.

What do you guys think? Should Ubisoft have included African guns like the Protecta or the Mag-7 for Far Cry 2? A missed opportunity or no?

EDIT: I wanted to change the thread title to: "Why didn't the Fortunes DLC add any african guns?", but the forum system doesn't let you edit thread titles, so then I thought I would just delete the thread and then copy-paste its contents into a new thread with a better title, until I realized that GOG doesn't let users delete threads, either! WTF! :rages:

I'd prefer Inkuzi PAW. >:D
Not a bad idea, in general, although I'm not a fan of shotguns in FPS games, so my lineup would be different. On the other hand, the game is about mercenaries in Africa, and that mix of weapons from all over the world makes sense.

True. The Jackel himself admits that most of his guns are refurbished models leftover from older global conflicts like the Vietnam War and some civil wars, so it makes more sense within the context of FC 2's story that the arsenal of weapons would be made up of an assortment of mass-produced guns rather than shotguns like the Protecta and the Mag-7 which were exclusively used by police forces or elephant guns which were never used for anything other than hunting big game. It seems that most South African and Rhodesian firearms are either used exclusively by police forces or never exit the prototype phase, so to have them being distributed in a central african civil war would be pretty far-fetched.
