I just made this game my bitch on normal about month ago.

I recommend using stealth! Hide in the bushes, and pick the enemy's brains from there. The enemies won't even spot you unless they are right next to you, regardless of the guns you use. Pick an effective place to camp where you can see almost all the targets and pick them off slowly. Do not be hasty and just go out once you think you took care of them all. Stay in the bushes and make sure everyone is dead. Progress is slow, but satisfying. Also make sure you are crouched, or ducking when you move around the environment. Never ever move in the open, go from bush to bush if possible. Also keep an eye on the 2 bars around the radar, when they begin to fill up, that means the enemy can see you and they will spot you once the meter is full. If you see it filling up, hide in or behind something! Aim for the enemies head to take em out quicker. When you fight the aliens later in the game, go in the water if they are near you. These fuckers can't go in the water. Use your shot gun to take em out quickly. In the indoor areas, use the vents to your advantage. Lure the aliens to you and go in the vent, and when they come after you, you can take em out with your shotgun since they can't move around too much inside the tight vent.


This game is 20 missions long, in fact bit too long, and it took me I guess more than 20 hours to beat. Good game.

Exactly what this dude wrote...I am using the same tactics for a long time I am playing Far Cry and game is much better fun than running and shooting like mad...

I had the same problem. I modified some script files to make myself stronger and enemies weaker. It made it easier, but because I also play without a hud or crosshair, it all balances out.

I'm playing on Medium and finding it a pain in the ar-- because of the enemies' extra sensory perception when you try to hide behind tents and such. I can tell the game is good, but I can't enjoy it properly in this broken state, and can't get the AMD64 or FCAM mods working.

I like difficulty in some of games, but not when it's glitchy and unfair like this....shame.

On medium far cry is not such a big deal; the "real" difficulty starts on realistic mode, but be sure you must play like the master of ego shoooter game play. The trigens are the easy part on realistic mode (feels like it against the mercs). The mercs are so much more powerful on realistic than even on hard mode "sigh". Shooting on body is almost complete waste of ammo, only head shots makes sense and you will die extremely fast. You must play almost only stealth mode.

I had this back in the day, still the same, obscenely hard and too easy to die fast even on the easiest levels in the game. The game wants stealth but you can't do it enough of the times, especially when you need to get from some long point A to B situation and you have wide open areas you will be spotted. I remember being furious now at it back in the day and eventually caving to use the ammo, armor and eventually god code just to see the end and be done with it.

Annoyingly I just remembered this now after having picked it up in the winter sale. >:\

And no I don't suck at FPS games as the coined stupid response usually is as I've done my share but the faux 3D era iD stuff, and various others since have been more my speed and lesser so as the years went along mostly stopping after the 21st century. This game is just pure nasty.
