Anyone ever had problems running Far Cry? My cursor shows that "loading" circle for a few seconds when I try to run it, but then it just goes back to normal and nothing happens. I noticed that my resource monitor shows a new task called rundll32.exe that keeps my CPU frequency high and usage at ~6%, but doesn't seem to do much else.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. I tried running in compatibility mode for XP, but that didn't help, as expected. Any ideas?

Edit: Oh, and there seems to be farcry.exe running as well. I didn't notice that before because it doesn't really use resources.

I have had that issue with many older Windows games myself in Windows 7 but I could never find a proper fix for the issue. The only soultion that worked for me was to run the game again after it doesn't load, minimize the game, and end the second instance of the game and rundll32.exe while it is running.

Thanks, it worked. But then I found a better solution: simply don't use rundll32.exe. :) I patched the game to 64 bit.
