Which patch, exactly?
GoG games are prepatched and if you're talking about fan-patch on Fallout 2, just launch the downloaded file and find a path to Fallout 2 folder, when you are asked (I think default path is C:Program FilesGoG.comFallout2 - and that's it, just click next...

You may need to be logged into the administrator account to access the program files portion of your computer on Vista.
Infact, if you aren't logged in as Admin, you will need to be.

There are some patches that are just .zip or .rar files. You just have to extract them to your Fallout folder.
