Hello guys,

I am playing the New Vegas on Ubuntu using Lutris. Works like a charm. But how to mod it? So far I have tried to put the file .esp in the data folder with hope to get it loaded. No luck.

I have installed Vortex, but Vortex and New Vegas does not see each other. Is there a way to avoid mod managing app? And if not, how to install GOG New Vegas and Vortex in one "lutris drive"?

99% of the time, once you've downloaded a mod it can be "manually" installed by extracting the file contents of the zip/archive's Data folder into the game Data folder. But then it needs to be added on the file list in loadorder.txt, which I don't know the location of on Ubuntu (maybe in folders with saved games). If it's not in loadorder.txt it won't load, so that may be your issue. I used to mod Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas this way, so I know it works but you'll have to install them 1-by-1 and maybe test alternate load orders. The mod should go the end of the list. The downsides of manual install include more difficult management of mod conflicts, and that the installation always overwrites files. If you haven't already, I'd back up the game before installing some mods so you can restore the game's files ( from a backup of the Data foler, or maybe only specific files altered in the mod) to a point before installing a mod. Some mods you find online will probably include a ReadMe with a description of the steps needed to manually install a mod without a mod manager.

Okay, I have only used 1 mod. Added it to

~/Games/gog/fallout-new-vegas/drive_c/users/michal/AppData/Local/FalloutNV/plugins.txt

and it works like a charm. Thank you.

You're welcome, and thank you for sharing the location and correct filename. In case you're interested, the modding tool FNVEdit (AKA xEdit) can very likely be used to tweak that mod to your preferences.
