Love this game but have always found it unstable (screen freezing) enough to get me to rage uninstall it only to find myself reinstalling it later to try some different combination of fixes to see if that helps.
This fix makes use of the New Vegas Stutter Remover mod, it has a prerequisite of the New Vegas Script Extender (needed for any modding really)
Once installed goto <your FNV install path>/Data/nvse/plugins/ !!!BACKUP this ini file before you start operating on it!!! open the sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.ini file in notepad or notepad++ look for breplaceheap and change to 6, look for iheapsize and change to 400 save and close. Try the game and revert if stability is worse.
