Play withWin 7.

Win 10 is a bitch to anybody who wishes to play games.
Microsoft downgrades it's OS's to the point that they don't work. Win 8 best example.

Win 7 is that last Microsoft OS which works.

P.S
Their latest OS looks cute, and all that.
But its unworkable, broken, 200$ trash can.

Hope this helps

Been running the game on Windows 8.0 for over 200 hours and, as far as possible with New Vegas, it's stable and works fine.
I use Windows 10 and when playing either Fallout 3 or New Vegas, I get random crashes to desktop that happen on average about every 3-4 hours. But I'm not sure if that is because of the OS, or because of my crappy Intel graphics, or because of some other issue.
I use Linux Mint for F:NV and it runs very nice and stable. :)

Am nearly through by now, just the last part of the last DLC and the battle of Hoover Dam left.

Runs on all the o/s fine once it's setup.
I run it on win7 pro but have set it up for friends on both win8 and win10.

For Fallout NV I use this fix:
https://rd.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/59451
I have 748 hours logged on steam using the fix. Only 46 on my GoG version, but no crashes and runs great

For Fallout3 this one:

Hope that helps, but personally I think win7 is better for gaming with this one.
I run 8.1 Pro on my desktop, and I rarely get crashes on New Vegas. Fallout 3 however, that's every 30-45 minutes.
