I got the Fallout Trilogy in a physical DVD case at Best Buy a long time ago; like this photo of it below. Then I got the Fallout Trilogy on GOG.com. I've heard the GOG.com's versions are censored. How a/b the physical package? Is it uncensored? If I go for the physical version is there any patches or mods I need to put on? Let me know the best route.

Afaik, GOG FO1 is censored and FO2 is uncensored. The censorship in FO1 can be removed with TeamX semi-official patch.

Whether your boxed version is censored or not depends on whether it is the US (unsencored) oder the European (censored) version. Censored versions don't show kids and therefore some minor quests can't be done and you can't get the Childkiller perk (which you don't want to get anyway most of the time).

GOG Fallout 1 is censored, hence no children, Fallout 2 isn't.

But eventually neither of this is important, because it's highly recommended to use the latest community patches on both games to fix tons of glitches. By doing so, censorship will be removed as well.

Two versions:
1. Patch only: Killap's unofficial Fallout 2 patch
2. Patch + additional content: Killap's Fallout 2 Restoration Project (includes Killap's unofficial Fallout 2 patch)
Install only one of the two versions.

There are other unofficial patches out there, but these two are the most recent ones and still maintained.

the gog is better no drm the speeds of the game being able to run off the computer with out a cd intermediary is much higher and there is less wear on the drive it can be used longer
the cd is slower more wear on the drive and cd and you dont have drm
