Is the CD version of Fallout compatible with Windows 7? I havint tried it yet, so i wanted to know if i have to install any patches to get it to work.
I couldn't get my CD working on Win7 32-bit so I took the lazy route and bought the GoG version.

I got weird psycho-purple colors on my CD version of Fallout 1 on Win7 64, but only for movies. The game itself looked fine. It was easily fixed by a high-resolution mod. I still play it on 640x480 though.

My CD version of Fallout 2 worked perfectly, however, with no patches or mods necessary.
I have my copy of Fallout 1 foalting around my home somewhere. I did install it on my PC (Windows 7 64x) and it ran pretty fine, I only had the color problem which I fixed with the official + unofficial + the resoulation patches. I now own the GoG version of Fallout and well I still needed to use the unofficial and resoulation patches.
Works fine for me with the disc versions.

Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics all work good from the disc versions. I do have to use compatibility modes to get them to work right though, but most olde games need that.

I did get funky colours showing up in Fallout 1. I believe I had to end "explorer.exe" to get rid of it. Ending the explorer.exe in task manager got rid of the bad colours. I didn't install any mods or unnofffical patches for it, just plain Fallout 1.
