Hi
I got the Fallout 4 GOTY edition on Gog. I have 2 queries .....
1. My game stutters every so often for a few seconds and then goes back to normal. Not good in the middle of a fight. It seems to be when the PC accesses the HDD. I have the game and GOG installed on an SSD drive though, so this is a bit confusing.
2. I'm not convinced my game is updating as the version number seems way behind the latest Fallout 4 game version. I know the nextgen version has not been bottomed out yet but I seem to be miles behind. Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance
Ben
There are many possible reasons for the problem you're describing. Some mods actually cause this problem, so you have to test each out separately.

Increasing page file size and upgrading my PC hardware helped eliminate some stuttering for me, but the game settings are probably a major factor and you should start there. Some parts of the game, such as Diamond City, are really likely to cause a drop in frame rate even without stuttering. Still, "ini tweaks" are your best bet for resolving this. Installing mods and tweaking the graphics-related settings in the ini files (very little is available in the Launcher) will probably work for you, but it may take a while to find optimal settings. There are many "mods" people have provided online that are simply ini tweaks. You can find those and try them out until you find one that helps. This page is helpful for understanding what some settings mean: (FYI the TOC internal page links are broken, find "Fallout 4 Tweaking" by just scrolling down) https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/fallout-4-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide/

GodRays & Weapon Debris settings, but really Weapon Debris mostly, are causes of crashes and stutters for a lot of people so try tweaking those (Game Launcher => Options => Advanced).

It's always helpful, no matter the forum, to share your PC components if you can so others know what you're working with.

Installer version number != game version number. My game is v 1.10.163.0.1 which is the latest version before the next-gen update:

Look at 'PC-only patches' for accurate version numbers :)
