Tired of those random 2 minute load times that Bethesda should have fixed a thousand years ago? Apparently it's tied to the framerate/vsync or someother, classic console port bullshit (or just general programming incompetence). That's the type of shit Daikatana pulls.

The old fashion way to fix this, is (I think) to disable vsync ingame and/or in your GPU's application setting for the game / uncap the framerate.

OR just quickly install Script Extender and High FPS Physics Fix

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42147 - Fallout 4 Script Extender
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798 - High FPS Physics Fix

Download both, and follow instructions

OR you can use my preconfigured pack of Script Extender + High FPS Physics Fix.

Just extract all the contents minus the readme to the root of your Fallout 4 folder typically located in C:\GOG Games\Fallout 4 GOTY. This is intended for a completely vanilla install of GoG Fallout 4 GOTY.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p_ktYRQwl1bkolCMCZvbxUtUMy7dXib4/view?usp=sharing

Make a shortcut to f4se_loader.exe and place that shortcut on your desktop, or wherever you want. Launch the game with the script extender's executable, the High FPS Physics Fix AKA random long load time unf***er should work automatically. You'll know if it works (if using my preconfigured pack, anyway) if the loading icon at the bottom right doesn't animate for the majority of the load.

Wish I would have known about this earlier, before burning Fallout 4 to an expensive BD-DL without this stuff, and closing the disc. You just expect a game to work without crippling problems, you know? Silly me.

Because of the way the physics engine works, basically, do NOT turn off VSync in game unless you do have High FPS Physics Fix. Things get weird, and even break down, if the framerate goes over 60, so if not VSync, you otherwise need to lock the max framerate to 60. I haven't tried High FPS Physics myself, but for those who don't want to get into that, or have problems, there's this alternative. Use the Load Accelerator:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10283

It won't install through a mod manager, and requires some manual file placement, but basically you drop it into the folder right next to the Fallout executable, and it will detect when you go into a loading screen and turn off VSync, then re-enable it once out of the loading screen. The longest loading time I've had using it has been about 6 seconds, and that's pretty common for people using SSDs. By the way, the guy who uploaded it to Nexus has also noted it has almost no effect on loading times if you're using HDD, but if you're running Fallout 4, chances are you've got an SSD to run it from.

Load Accelerator is good; but has too many conflicts with other mods and no memory management.
Use Buffout 4 (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47359) instead, it's little bit slower; but safer.

You will also need:
- Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE) (https://f4se.silverlock.org/)
- Address Library for F4SE Plugins (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47327)

Have never had any conflicts or problems with Load Accelerator. And frankly, for Buffout 4, they say so little about what it's supposed to do that I'm suspicious about whether it really does anything at all. Apparently I've downloaded it at some point, but no longer have it, so can't figure out why I ever had it. If I didn't keep it, though, it was either a problem, or did nothing I cared for.

Like I wrote Load Accelerator is a good mod... too good.
Load Accelerator loads faster than the crappy Fallout-Engine.
You will get issues when you use script-heavy mods, like Sim Settlement 2.
In bigger Settlements the game will freeze while loading (when you fasttravel directly to the settlement).
When you see nothing from Buffout and have no crashes... then it's working ;-)

Load Accelerator is a "Injector" and Buffout 4 is a plugin. So if you get problems, you can switch to Buffout 4 without any issues (just don't use half-loaded/damaged savefiles).

I tried a number of things to improve loading times without avail - Loading Accelerator, for example, didn't do squat/broke things - until I stumbled upon Long Loading Times Fix.

Now I'm not sure whether it's the Script Extender it's dependent on or the plugin itself, but without fail the game crashes to desktop about every two hours or so now. Some of the original loading times - pretty much anytime going from inside a building to the outside world - would still be longer than a simple restart of the game though. I'll take that minor inconvenience in exchange for loading in mere seconds (without having to rely on my GPU going into overdrive or via some questionable graphics tweaking).

There used to be an issue with FO4 where it ran slower on an SSD. There was a fix for that. Is that still an issue?

This has nothing to do with consoles at all.

Fallout 4 is simply using a loading strategy that used to be common in the 90s, and didn't even implement it correctly.

It's pure incompetence on Bethesda's part.

Worked. Thanks.
