I'm having em. Got down the ladder in the tanker and am struggling to do any significant damage to the monsters. If anyone has any tips, that would be great, particularly are there any weak spots that I should be aiming at and any recommended weapons. I read somewhere that flamethrowers are good for the floaters but I don't think I have any...

I think my plan is going to be go down, kill as many monsters as I can, go back up, heal, rinse, repeat.

Any advice would be appreciated

In Fallout 2 the floaters have good Damage Threshold and high Damage Resistance to everything except for fire, so that is what you need to deal with them effectively. And watch out for their poison.

Thanks, but damn. I was worried about that. I hope one of my guys has a spare flamer, but I suspect not. I may have to kill some randoms or see if I can buy one somewhere...

An rather easy way to handle them is like:
First you need enough action points for shooting and running ;-)
SAVE
Go down, fully equipped and weapon loaded.
Hit the attack button.
Aim for the next enemy (the eyes)
DON'T MOVE
If you see that the an enemy reaches in this round....well just go up again.
Reload!!!
SAVE
Go down again...shoot once and than run.
(if they have the first move...well load your savegame)
After the enemies around the stairs are gone go deeper and lure the next to the stairs....repeat.

With this tactic even a weak character can do it.
(it real helps if you have a Gauss or better a Plasma but a melee weapon does it too)

Thanks for the tip, I went for a wander, killed some thugs, one of which had a flamer, bought some ammo and smoked those floaters. The aliens were easy with some eye shots with a laser beam :)
