gabocaba: Hi. I've had this problem with other old games in newer systems. I'm having the same problem with Fallout 1. I don't think this has been solved... more like ignoring the problem :P
The thing is, Unholyfurball, I think the reason Fallout 2 is topping out at 51 CPU usage in your pc is because you have a dual core processor. Mikenike got 100 because he only has a single core.
I have an i7, a quad core, so only one of them gets max usage while the others remain fine.
I don't think this is OK behavior... I'm not playing the game due to this problem. I wouldn't want to risk my processor. I use some heavy demanding software and no core never reaches those values, so I don't think this can be good or something not to worry about.
Is anyone at GOG aware of this problem? Does anyone have a solution for this? Is there anyone with a newer computer playing this and not having a processor at max usage? or is it just me?
thanks!
I really want to play this! (I never played it!)
Now, I've played Fallout 1 and 2 on 3 different computers. 1. I had for over 8+ years with windows XP, 256 mb RAM and 2.4Ghz intel CPU. 2. This next one I had over 4+ years with Windows Vista 32bit, 512 mb RAM and 1.4GHz CPU and 3rd which is recently new, Windows 7 3.75 GB RAM and 1.60GHz Athlon II X2 250 CPU.
Now I never had any issue with CPU usage on any 3 of my computers. Maybe you could kill some processes in task manager. Or you could use a program that turns them off, but can quickly turn them back on. You could use game booster. =/
