Hey and firstly thanks for GOG being awesome.
I bought Fallout 1 from GOG during spring sale, because I was so impressed with Fallout 3's atmosphere that I had to get all of the series games.
I had absolutely no problem on installing Fallout 1 on Ubuntu with the patch set gathered by the GOG community, so I made a guide with some pointers that other Ubuntu users may enjoy and find helpful.
My guide can be found here from my new upstarted blog.
http://cryptonull.com/ubuntu/gog-coms-fallout-with-patches-on-ubuntu/
Hope this helps some members of GOG, you are welcome to share the guide forwards.
Hopefully my guide doesn't appear as being blog spam :\ I linked it mostly because I have pictures/codeboxes there.
Thanks mate...that was really nice :)
Anyway, about the mods/patches.
Should I just drag and drop, one after the other, the patches' files in the directory where the game is? I mean...the files in the link you provide in your blog are numbered (#1,#2 etc.). Should I start from the first one and then in the end apply the higher resolution one?
I ask because first there is the unofficial 1.2 and then the child one, which overwrite the falloutw.exe file...how can this be? Wouldn't that nullify the unofficial patch 1.2? Sorry for my noobish question :)
Thanks again.
Hey, I tryed to keep the patchset as original as possible, but unfortunately there were zip's and rar's combined in the original so I re-archived all of them into one huge zip, to keep "archive-manager" happy since vanilla Ubuntu doesn't understand rar's (not FOSS).
Greets fly out to the original authors in the "Fallout 1 FAQ" thread.

From what I observer about the original posting was to extract the root content of each
#(number) folder into the root of the game folder.
/home/user/.wine-fallout/drive_c/Program Files/GOG.com/Fallout
Should work out great, just be sure to remove the original exe "falloutw.exe" and replace it with the one that one of the patch set does provide "Falloutw.exe" (you need to rename the "Falloutw.exe" to "falloutw.exe" for the Mainmenu in ubuntu to recognize =) ) Case sensitivity :/
Also I have few other guides still left from my original blog that are on an SQL dump waiting to be recovered =)
EDiT: "Wouldn't that nullify the unofficial patch 1.2? Sorry for my noobish question :) "
Start up the game, it should say Fallout 1.2 in the bottom-right =)
