In the late 90's, the Japanese RPG was starting to make some serious headway into western markets with the release of games like Final Fantasy 7. The open-ended western RPG could have easily died away if it weren't for this gem from Interplay. This game reinvigorate the genre and inspired others to continue making games in the tradition of the western RPG. Its influences can still be seen even today in games like Oblivion and The Witcher.
Having access to a classic like this is great. Unfortunately in this day and age, finding a copy of the original disc can be very difficult, if not impossible. Even if you did find it, getting it to run properly on your new Windows Vista machine could be a real headache. Enter Good Old Games. I must say, I'm very impressed. I was a bit nervous about downloading this game from GoG because I had tried to install my old copy of it under Vista in the past and been unable to get it to run properly. Much to my surprise though, the GoG release worked perfectly without headache. Download, install, play. It really was just as simple as that. The bonus materials (the original manual and reference card, wallpapers, soundtrack) just sweetened the deal. The price is right too! You can't beat getting such a high quality release of such a high quality game at such a low price.
