Hello all, I just discovered gog.com from gamerswithjobs.com (excellent site by the way) and I immediately saw the big Fallout series info on the site. As the fallout games were games that I never had a pc that was capable of playing I was wondering which of the three is the most enjoyable. Also what is all of the added content for each game. I can only purchase one (possibly I can get the wife to let me get 2 of them) I'm looking for something with a bit of replayability. Also the squad tactics look tasty, but from what I understood about Fallout tactics is that it had many game hindering bugs. Have those all been sorted out? so in closing, I guess I am asking three things:
1) which of the three is the best
2) which has the most replayability
3) what does the added content amount to
Thanks in advance
Mike

They're all very opinion based games, but it is best to play 1 and then 2. Tactics is focused on combat in which you can go both realtime and turnbased.
I enjoy playing Fallout 1 the best, and I really like the NPC mod for it, but the NPC mod is basically just adding features that Fallout 2.
There is a thread about the questions which of the first two Fallouts one should start with here. The general consensus there is that Fallout 1 is a lot better in this regard, as Fallout 2 can be very painful when it's your first time playing. On the other hand, though, from what I've heard Fallout 2 is better in some ways, but especially also a lot bigger than its predecessor. There is even a big "restoration" mod adding a lot more content which the developers of the original game excluded from the final version or just didn't finish.
So, I think if you are really only able to buy one of the two and want to get the best value of it, you might want to pick Fallout 2. But then you should also be aware that it might take some "effort" before you can really start enjoying the game and the first few hours may likely be a lot more frustrating than fun. After that, though, you might surely get the better experience from it :)
You also mentioned Fallout Tactics, but I haven't really played that at all, so I can't comment on it. Just as far as I know it is heavily focused on the combat and therefore a lot less of an RPG than Fallout 1 and 2.

I think you looking for Fallout 2, sounds most like what you have in mind. Big and lots of things you can do different each time.
And I don't really recall any bugs in Tactics. Or I didn't notice them at the very least. But as Syrion mentioned, not really much RP in that one, though still fun in my opinion.
However I can't tell you what is the best as only you can say that. Plus I can't really decide myself.

I second that.
