After loading the recent patch (V1.01 IV2.31.R3) the game no longer starts for me.

I open Galaxy select FO-Lon, click PLAY and the cursor flashes a while but nothing happens and the game does not start. It was running OK until this update which installed earlier today. Actually I was playing the game for a while just beforehand and all was well, updated and now it wont start.

If I run the 'f4se_launcher' directly I can start a new game but I cannot load any of my old saves, the game crashes.

I have verified the FO-Lon game from Galaxy and no error reported.
Did you really install the update or did galaxy just download stuff? The patches don´t get applied automatically, you have to start folon in gog galaxy and on the window that pops up initiate the update process. Can take a while.

Thanks for the reply.

I watched the download bar move across and It said it downloaded something and completed, I thought it had installed it, maybe it didnt as you say. I was playing the game started by Galaxy just before the update arrived.

However, now when I open Galaxy, select FO-Lon and click Play the mouse cursor flickers for a few seconds but nothing happens, no further menu or choices 'pop up' to click. I cant see [Update] anywhere.

I right-click the game and check for updates it reports there are no updates available.

If I open file manager in windows and double click the F4se_loader the game appears to start but at the menu if I click Continue or load any of my previous saves it very soon crashes. However by using the F4se_loader I can start a new game from scratch and that seems to run OK.

How do I tell which update I actually have? Or assuming it has just downloaded how can I now install it if the Galaxy menu does pop up correctly?

That´s a bit tricky as i don´t have any deeper informations apart from a single user who did it that way.
GoG galaxy only downloads the update data but does not install the update itself, this normally is done with the folon launcher window that for whatever reason does not pop up for you. Did you simply try after restarting your computer? For funny issues the .ini files seem to get automatically moved so you might now have a mixed installation.

One user got rid of it with simply copying the contains of the Fallout London installation folder into the fallout 4 goty folder. As it´s just one person that did that i can´t really say if that is "the" solution.

Best would be if you move into their discord linked on their page

https://fallout4london.com/

and ask there.

Navigate to the Fallout London install directory, not the Fallout 4 GOTY directory. There will be an exe file called installer.exe. Run that. That should bring up the launcher for Fallout London, where you choose update or play. Click update.

Once the update is done, you need to navigate to the Fallout 4 GOTY install directory, then go into the Data subdirectory and run "LondonWorldSpace - ClearUp.bat". That is a batch file that will clean up the installation folder after the update. (Really, it is removing the BakaScrapHeap script memory extender plugin for the Fallout 4 Script Extender, which was causing a lot of crashes).

Should be good to go after doing these steps.

vulchor,

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it hasn't helped.

I found the Installer file in file manager and ran that but the windows cursor just seemed to quickly flash for a while and nothing more menu or game wise popped up. Its the same type of cursor flashing that happens when I click to play in Galaxy since the update. Maybe Galaxy is trying to run the installer but something else has happened to stop it working?

Most odd.

Any other sugegstions?

PS - Whilst looking around in file manager I found the downloaded patch file "patch_fallout_london_2.31_Revision2_(75054)_to_V1.01_IV2.31R3_(75422)". When I run that it says its already installed but clicking the [Launch Game] option still just gives the flashing cursor again.

We have no clairvoyance ball here. Either you now move over into the folon discord as the devs might be easier in helping you find a solution or - as already stated - one user simply copied the files from the folon folder over into the fallout 4 goty folder (risky as i have no idea if this is a solution that will work with later updates).

The devs are not here and the problem sounds pretty specific on your side. I really suggest hitting their discord in your case.

Did the window disappear after you clicked update, or did it remain? A progress bar is supposed to appear, and it may take a few minutes to do the update. Galaxy shouldn't be doing anything at all when you run the launcher through the exe, but it may be best to just have Galaxy completely closed (not just minimized to the taskbar or system tray).

If you are still having problems, I guess I don't have an answer besides the obligatory full reinstall of the game (you don't have to delete your save files).

I finally got it going again. After trying all the 'fixes' I could find (copying files across etc) nothing helped, so I uninstalled and re-installed the game and mod but it still had the same problem, just a flashing cursor when I tried to run the game.

After checking around Galaxy settings by right-clicking the game I found a selection of updates to apply. There was the recent 1.01 patch which seemd to cause the problems and an older 2.03 patch ( I think that was the version numbers listed from memory, but it was quite clear). I turned auto updates for FO-Lon off and applied the older update. After the update, when I run the game it started again and is running as it was before - no flashing cursor.

I'll leave it like this for a while and if it seems stable I'll apply the newer patch once more and see what happens.
