After too many hours trying to get the right analog gamepad of a Dual Shock 2 to fully work with the remastered game (only up-down was working, not left-right), thinking the problem was caused by the adapter or the driver, trying everything available and wondering why the game was refusing to comply to my x360ce settings... It came to my mind that there could have been a Steam release and yes it was, it took me less than 15 minutes to find the thread where someone had already found the problem (this game ignores XInput when there is DirectInput):

User "ekze" from the Steam forum:
"For some reason, the game prioritizes DirectInput controller over XInput, so even if you emulate it via x360ce, original DirectInput will take preference. As DirectInput is deprecated it's not fully supported in the game with Z axis Up/Down not working. I haven't found a solution around it except using native XInput gamepad, that way it works without issues - using DS3 controller. "

"Yes, XBox controller supports XInput, so there's no issue there. The issue with older controllers using DirectInput. Anyways, I have now managed to workaround that issue!
Logitech Rumblepad 2 (DirectInput) now fully works in Fahrenheit for me!
Steps to make it work: Go to Steam - Settings - Controller - General Controller Settings and tick "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support there" after that buttons remapped (probably using Steam Controller Emulation) to XInput for game to fully recognize it!
Hope it helps someone!
I've also renamed my controller to "Rumblepad" to differentiate, not sure if it helps in recognition, but if the above doesn't help, try renaming it. I didn't change any bindings in game or in Steam "Define Layout", it worked out of the box after enabling this tick "

So it wasn't a "remastered version" but a shoddy port, just upscaling a few textures here and there, breaking Dual Shock support in the process, which for a game DESIGNED TO BE PLAYED BY A DUAL SHOCK... is truly shocking.

TL;DR The solutions are:

A) Play the original Fahrenheit game (not the so-called "remastered" version), gamepads actually work there

B) Buy the game in Steam, they have a gamepad support mode which fixes this problem

C) Keep investigating if there is a way to tell the OS to suppress DirectInput and just pass XInput to the game, I'm fed up already with all of this and the developers are as starchy and unsupportive as they can be, so asking them is out of the question.
